Anwar's Entry To Parliament

Anwar Ibrahim's win in the by-election for Permatang Pauh has been a foregone conclusion the day it was announced that he would be contesting.

Thereafter, numerous allegations arose to derail Anwar's plans in getting elected as a Member of Parliament.

Lo and behold, he came out a winner from yesterday's by-election with a bigger slice of majority votes. I remembered reading somewhere where a Barisan Nasional ("BN") representative stated that a reduction in the number of majority votes would considered a win for them as that would mean the citizens have trusted BN more and believed that BN is the party that could represent their interests.

It doesn't matter even if Anwar was to have won by one single vote, it would still be Anwar's. I do face the same argument when it comes to a English Premier League football match. When Manchester United won with a 1-0 scoreline, friends who support other teams would ridicule that sloppy result. Does it really matter?

Now that Anwar has won his election and he would be elected as the new opposition leader by virtue of PAS and DAP's consents, his entry into parliament may be delayed. Anwar has told the public that he will form a new government come 16 Sept 2008. Maybe it was this reason that the current Parliament Speaker has stated that he need not rush the swearing in of Anwar. Rumour is saying that Anwar's swearing could be held in Oct 2008.

It doesn't matter as well. It just reflect the Speaker's professionalism but I guess the Speaker, who was nominated by the current BN government, couldn't care less of the public's opinion. It's just a delaying tactic.

The BN government may have to think of various methods now to delay Anwar's eligibility in becoming a Member of Parliament.

Firstly, make him guilty of the sodomy case by involving Islamic swearing on the Quran. Somehow failed as the National Fatwa Council has deemed it technically wrong.

Second - I'm waiting to see more of the sandiwara (stories) being planned.

now they have the DNA bill some more. looks like they'll percik the hell out of anwar's blood again. i think the BN govt is scared that they are figuring on ways to kill off anwar's political career. suddenly, there's an ACA investigation on Anwar regarding 60 million ringgit received from Magnum. Why now ACA?
