Punishment on Lazy Staff

Upon seeing this picture (in Funny Malaysia), I could actually recognise which staff was that (if you were a regular customer at this supermarket). What a way to punish a foreigner. Just because he is foreigner, the owner or supervisor thought it was alright to bully. Yeah, I called it bully because they wouldn't dare to retaliate as he was in a foreign land and don't know what to do.

Well, the notice did state "I was lazy". Maybe he was really lazy but still, he doesn't deserve such a punishment in this civilised country. Can you imagine an adult being punished like this? Really disgraceful.

Different people or organisation have different ways of punishing their staff.

Which supermarket? Sri Kota Supermarket located at Taman Danau Desa.

Public Holiday for Thaipusam

It has been announced that Thaipusam day on Wednesday will be public holiday for the Kuala Lumpur ("KL") and Putrajaya folks. In previous years, only Negri Sembilan, Perak, Penang, Johor and Selangor have this as a public holiday.

Many KL folks did say that the government was quite weird in declaring a holiday for Selangor only. Maybe the reason was that the main Thaipusam event was usually held at Batu Caves, a Selangor area but it's only a stone's throw away from the KL borderline.

The Malaysian government didn't take into account that the Thaipusam chariot or parade starts from the KL city centre at Jalan Tun H.S. Lee and march all the way to Batu Caves, going through all KL roads. Alright, the main reason given was "during Thaipusam there would be traffic jams everywhere in KL and it's difficult to get to work. So let it be a holiday." Excuse me Mr. Prime Minister, there is no traffic jam in Putrajaya at all.

But why the sudden approval given for this public holiday? After pleading for so many years, the Malaysian government declared it now. Could it be because of the 15,000 MIC members gathering held at Cheras Badminton Stadium or trying to please a large segment of people due to Hindraf case?

Relaxing Sunday

Today I had another much relaxed Sunday which was totally different from those busy drama weekends. By 12pm plus, we were out of church already. Went to Sri Petaling to have our Ipoh Chicken rice with. Quite costly for 3 families - RM87.

By 2.30pm I was back home and went to sleep around 3pm ........ hehe. Woke up around 9am in the morning and went to sleep 6 hours later. That's life!

Woke up at 5.30pm and then out for dinner at the nearby food court.

Catching Up With Good Life

Saturday, 29 Dec 2007 - a really good rest day for me. Had been missing this sort of Saturday since the month of Oct 2007 owing to the Christmas dramas. Enjoyed those busy days too and today was a deserved Saturday for me.

Woke up at 10.00am and walked out to a mamak restaurant for my breakfast after a good time of procrastination, ding dong here and there and finally arrived at the restaurant around 11.00am. Ordered a roti telur with a teh tarik and sat down there reading the Star newspaper till 1.30pm. In between, took another cup of teh tarik.

Afternoon - more resting period ........... hehe till I'm so lazy to go to gym.

In the evening, went for dinner at a nearby restaurant with 3 other families. No time for photos as we were catching up on lost time with one another. Even though all of them were involved but then they were in different dramas thus missed this kind of get-together.

Tomorrow night will be New Year's Eve and the nearest big event to me will be held at The Boulevard, Mid Valley. The big event is called the Mid Zone Countdown 2008.

Where would you be on New Year's Eve?

Dinner at Shangri-La Hotel

Was at Lemon Garden Cafe, Shangri-La Hotel on Wednesday night celebrating my mom's birthday and found that it was fully packed with customers.

Just when you thought that being the most expensive buffet dinner (at RM112.70 - did this enter Malaysia's Book of Records?) in Malaysia and a weekday itself, it would not be packed. Good thing I did make a reservation a day earlier.

The left picture was taken at 7.30pm but by 8.00pm, it was filled.

Shangri-La did put up a Christmas tree made up of bottles right at their lounge.

Three Filipino ladies were belting out English songs. Their stage was located up above the lounge's bar counter.
Saw this nice orchid flowers at the lift area.
A nicely decorated lobby area of the hotel which contributed to the Christmas atmosphere.

Not only the hotel but Jalan Bukit Bintang was decorated to liven up the end of the year festive season. I took this road just to see how nice the place was and at 11.00pm, the traffic jam was still there.

Lim Goh Tong's Hairdresser

The recent passing away of the Genting Group founder, Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong, revived my mom's faded memories.

During my mom's youthful age of 18 - 19, she worked as a hairdresser in a hairdressing saloon located at Jalan Pudu area known as Lee Ying (opposite of Maybank, Jalan Pudu) which is still in existence today albeit different owner. My mom is 63 today and counting those ages, it was like some 45 years ago, during the 1960s.

She remembered that, Lim Goh Tong then, always had his haircut at my mom's hairdressing saloon and at times she did the haircut for him. She said even then, he was just a simple businessman, not fussy.

His wife then was staying in one of those shoplots near the existing Pudu Plaza which was near Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong's shop (dealing with hardware materials) but not sure whether he owned that business or not.

It was during that time he started to venture into constructing his way up to Genting hill. And the rest was history in which the popular hill resort Genting - City of Entertainment was developed.

This is what I call A Man With A Dream Will Not Be Denied.

Stucked in Between Two Floods

When I told my friend that I could not go to his house on Saturday afternoon due to the flood, he asked me what happened. Told him that I got stucked in between two floods...... baffled as I was, he asked "How did you get yourself to be stucked in between two floods, how did you get past the first one??"

hmmmmmmm.... good question. A few of us were supposed to be at his house for one of the drama practises but unfortunately things went awry. I managed to call another group who was making their way and they managed to slip out somewhere and went back home.

I picked up a friend at Taman Seputih at around 4.50pm amidst the heavy thunderstorm. Made my way out of Taman Seputih and took the highway going towards Cheras coming from the Federal Highway direction. The two Touch & Go booths have malfunctioned which caused all cars to squeeze into remaining booths. Paid and all I need was about 10 minutes before reaching his home in Alam Damai.

Took the road leading to Bandar Tun Razak Industrial Park and was caught at that traffic light until I saw some cars going on the opposite direction at the left hand emergency lane. What's going on? Saw cars reversing and making 3 point turn to take the emergency lane. Need to do likewise as the traffic light area (under the flyover) was flooded. Others cars which saw this batch of cars reversing and going the opposite direction stayed put allowing us to turn back to the highway. Nooooowwww the highway is jam packed too. 20 minutes - moved about 50 metres. On reaching the top of the flyover, I saw the highway flooded at the bottom of the flyover. I paid toll to get caught in a flood.

So I thought I was smart in getting out from that earlier flood only to get stucked in another one elsewhere. Waited for the flood to recede, what else!!!! Didn't go for the drama practise and dropped my friend back at her house in Taman Seputih and reached home at 6.30pm. For 1 hour 40 mins, I was out there in the car. By the time I reached home, noticed that I have forgotten to take any pictures at all.........how come?

Redemption of Bonuslink Points

I have been a member of Bonuslink for quite some time back, maybe just after their launch...... can't recall the exact date but long enough.

Saw that my accummulated points is quite high at the moment with some points about to expire in December, I decided to redeem some stuff.
When I went through the Bonuslink website, a Philips brand iron fits my household as our only iron has its metal base coming loose. No, no, we were not rough in using it. It has been serving my household for umpteenth years now. Time to retire.
Last week, my wife went over to Parkson located at OUG and was told that only the primary member, which was me, could redeem items. Aaaargh.....
So, we decided to go there again yesterday late morning and had our lunch at Leo's in Citrus Park. New food outlet and was recommended to try the Terriyaki Chicken Claypot Rice. Good choice! Went up again to the redemption counter inside Parkson shopping centre.
Failed again........... this time, I must have a redemption PIN number in order to redeem.......... Do you know how frustrating it was? I told the counter staff that I have redeemed items before at Shell petrol stations and I got what I wanted but she still said that I must have a redemption PIN number. She said come back on Tuesday so that we could make a call to Bonuslink and settle the PIN number on the spot. It took me soooooooooo many weeks just to be there. Went back home, checked Bonuslink website, true enough under "4.3 On-the-Spot Redemption", a PIN was required..........
Now I have to call Bonuslink and ask them what PIN number??????????????? Came to work today with an unironed shirt....good thing I did hang it properly after washing it so you could hardly see those crumbled section, good clothing material anyway. Lesson learnt - don't assume things and take the easy way out.

Getting to Know the Blog Readers

I don't mind getting to know my blog readers. Met a group of them recently (them as a group and me alone). From the Site Meter, I can see that many readers from overseas countries, it'll be nice to know you as well.

I knew some came from my church or office and the rest are unknown to me except for those listed in my blogroll. Sometimes during those free time at home, I'll just run through who else will frequent my blog at my blog tracker. Yikessssssss!!! Who's that at number 474 at the picture below? The Royal Malaysia Police paid a visit during one of those days.......hehehe

For that matter, I'm trying to get a group of bloggers to come along to blog about an upcoming Songwriting Competition. The producer wanted the bloggers to promote their event. We don't have to be musically inclined just as long as you can blog with the pictures that you'll be snapping away. This coming 27 Oct is a photo session/boot camp for those artiste/bands where they'll receive consultation on various issues to ensure stage performance is good.

Of course we won't be seeing songwriters sitting at a desk writing their music piece/score page by page lah. We would be seeing the final piece already.

At this event, we can meet one another apart from being able to mix around with potential famous songwriters or artiste/bands. If interested or wanted to find out more, please email me at jonash1@yahoo.com (entitle the email as "Star Maker").

And if you have a skype, yahoo messenger or msn messenger, we can chat as well.

Stucked in Office

Was supposed to go for my church's Family Day Carnival held at Tasik Permaisuri at Cheras this morning but my big boss decided to hold an important meeting....... aarrgh..... now in office and working other stuff out at the same time.

Later in the afternoon from 6pm-8pm and evening 8pm-10pm, will be at church to see another 2 drama teams having their practises. What a busy lifestyle.

Zapping Life Became Life Sapping

Yesterday's work schedule was too tiring. I talked/negotiate non-stop with another company on the figures from 10am till almost 7pm. Lunch break in between of course.

The brain went dead by the time I reached home and knocked off to bed around midnite. Haven't had this feeling for quite some time.

Thought of watching the live Champions League game between Man Utd and AS Roma but just couldn't wake up ....... sigh!

Another round today and hopefully get to settle it too.

The Gardens at Mid Valley

Woke up this morning and felt much better. So off to The Gardens, the new wing at Mid Valley area. Was in Mid Valley's basement car park by 10.30am to avoid the sudden surge of shoppers later on. Haven't taken our breakfast, so family decided to hunt for an eating place.

We took the route leading to The Garden from Mid Valley's centre court, going through a make shift tunnel. Quite a tight place initially and without people didn't keep left or right and very messy as everyone was heading into each other's path.

Even the lighting set used was unique (not switched on as it was day time).

Nice clothing materials was used as a cover and traffic has to be stopped to let pedestrian cross from one building to another while a bridge is still under construction.

If it rains, it would be impassable.

The interior design was absolutely fantastic and different from other shopping malls in the city. Those crossings on top seen from the ground floor gave a nice ambience.

This place - for the rich and famous lah..... all top branded goods, see here see there, touch here and there but can't afford. To me, this new shopping mall was built to match KLCC shopping mall's status.

I'm not saying we can't buy, cannnnnnnnnnnn but next few months would be on tight spending.

Many comfy sofa sets were made available for people who could be tired after walking around the big shopping mall.

But it was only around 10.45am and I could see people sitting down already. They got tired so fast???

Found out that the lower ground floor was the main eating area but sadly lots of the restaurants are not opened yet.

Christmas Drama Being Organised

At last I was able to call for the Christmas Drama meeting last Sunday and split about 43 people into 5 drama teams to present 5 different dramas for the whole month of December 2007.

A drama team will present their drama for each of the Sunday with the last drama to be presented on Christmas Day itself. The dramas are not linked to each other, not like a series. I have actually finished 4 of the 5 scripts and trying my best to touch up on the final one.

I'm going to be busy from now onwards starting with one of the drama teams having their practise this coming Thursday night. Then 2 more on Saturday evening and another 1 on Sunday noon. The practise for the drama to be presented on Christmas Day will start as soon as the leading actors/actresses in each of the first 4 dramas have accustomed to their respective dramas first before calling for that Christmas Day drama in which I will be involved too. It's like pulling the best together. Not saying the rest are lousy, don't misquote me.

Thank God that 43 people have availed themselves for the Christmas dramas and managed to roped in a number of new faces. It would be easier to have more drama presentations in future with so many members now. I'm sure there would be lots of fun in all the practises as in previous years. More photos to come showing you those funny/gila moments......................

All the 5 dramas will incorporate some video scenes too where we will video shoot some scenes and play it in between the drama. At least it would not be mundane with live stage performance only. Video scenes are mostly a person's thought and it's like those cartoons that you have watched before, where their thoughts do have people moving here and there.......hehehe, something different lah. So, when this live actor is thinking of something, that won't be acted live but a video clip would be shown instead with all lightings blacked out.

Talking about lightings, I need to get 2 persons to be trained up for the new lightings that my church is going to invest in. Quite a hefty sum and must get non-itchy fingers fellas (cannot afford to damage those expensive lighting equipments). Haven't seen it yet, should be up by November.

Would be sitting down with a another church member who will be shooting/editing our videos. Will put up some photo/video teasers in the month of November to stir up people's interests and suspense too. Bloopers will be there too. Waaaaaaah, lots of interesting stuff coming up. All my blog readers are invited to watch all the 5 dramas in the month of December 2007.

Tight Schedule Lately

Friday was a bit rush at work and as colleagues were to come to work on Satuday morning and I can't make it in the morning, I might as well stay back on Friday night to finish whatever I can. By 10pm, stomach was calling for its best friend - food!

Went off and was surprised to see a jam along Jalan Tun Razak after 10pm. Maybe it was the muslim citizens making their way back home after their break fast meals or the night prayers during the Ramadan month. It was my turn to break fast (last meal was lunch time), it's my dinper now. What? What dinper? Well, a meal between breakfast and lunch is called brunch. Since mine was between a dinner and supper, I guessed it was dinper then.

Venue was Vitya mamak restaurant, no more a stall but a restaurant. Took a mee goreng and teh tarik besar. Cost me RM4.20.

Went home, attended to self need and relaxed in front of the tv to watch the Astro on Demand's The Drive of Life series for 45 mins. Thereafter, attended to some stuff for my friends' wedding tomorrow morning at church. Found one of the songs we wanted for the wedding. Another hectic day tomorrow. Have to be in church by 8.30am to prepare the place for the wedding ceremony that will commence at 11am.

Looks like I have to go back to office after cleaning up the church. Go to office, work, rush and then rush back home to prepare myself for the chinese wedding dinner at a restaurant along Jalan Imbi. I read in the newspaper that the road directions\ has changed at Jalan Imbi. Now I'm wondering which way is which. Should I come from Smart tunnel or come from the direction of Jalan Tun Razak/Jalan Bukit Bintang junction?

What a day it will be tomorrow.

Drama Script for Christmas 2007

I was at the poolside just now, trying my best to put up the right words for the Christmas drama, struggling also. In each character, I tried to put myself into their shoes trying to visualise how would such a character feel/react/respond if they were to hear/see/experience that scenario. Expected to write a 5 parts series. Only finished 2 of it and halfway thru the 3rd instalment.

Sweating profusely already..................

But good thing the poolside has a nice view of greenery which helped my mind to relax and gather more inspiration.

Don't get me wrong, there was no leng lui swimming today ...... (wasted actually)

I had wanted to jump in today but need to finish up what I was doing.

As I was drafting the script, I heard some cat calls (not leng lui's call), I turned around and was laughing my head off as I saw 3 kittens trying to climb a tree behind me.

There were 3 of them on the tree branches but 1 fell into the bush below.

The higher kitten (1st pic - centre), who saw me, tried to climb down but ran into difficulties and was hanging on to its life (2nd picture). Did fall eventually....hehe

All 3 kittens disappeared upon seeing me taking pictures with flash.

Uncivic Minded Residents

Human beings being human beings but some are worse than a human being. If you are staying in the same condominium, where's your sense of cleanliness. Just look at my condo's ground floor. When I came down earlier, the rubbish bin was already full but people continued to pile it up and I supposed it fell as it was too high by then. The orange coloured plastic was left on the floor instead since it was full.

You might say that the rubbish bin was too small. A bigger rubbish container (fit for the whole condo population to throw their rubbish) was located about 10 steps away, just behind the lifts. That's how terrible these human beings are. I recalled the same thing happened on my floor too. I printed a notice (in both English and Bahasa Malaysia languages) and slipped it under their doors (10 units per floor only) excluding my next door neighbour who was equally pissed off. My notice sounded like this:-

"If we found out that you were the one who just dumped the rubbish on the floor at the lift area, you will find all the rubbish in that bin being dumped right at the front of your door in the morning!!"

After that notice, everybody's mindset had changed.

Peeping Tom - Part I

When I read the article entitled Peeping Tom Beaten Up in the Star newspaper, it recalled the same scenario at my condo 3 years back.

From my condo (a corner unit), I could see the next block's emergency side staircase. For a few times, I did notice a guy standing at the staircase during night time and could see him staring into the condo unit from the staircase. He would then stare at the open space and stare back at the unit. Now what was he staring at? Due to the weird design of the condo unit, a person could see the common toilet from the emergency staircase. As I'm tall you could see my shoulder area during my shower but for a shorter person you may see the head only.

After ensuring that he was a peeping tom due to his frequency at that spot, I informed few of my neighbours on my floor. My opposite neighbour would also try to catch his misdeeds from his angle. On one fine night, I so happened noticed that he just stepped into his common place. I informed the rest of the neighbouring guys and I grabbed a long steel pipe which I keep in my master bedroom's toilet.

Called 2 other guys from other floors and we met downstairs. We walked one big round exiting from the centre of our block, round the car park and into the lift area of the other block. There were 8 of us and we split into 2 groups. We knew he was at the 3rd/4th floor staircase area. One group came out of the lift at the 3rd floor and my group was at the 4th floor walking towards the staircase door. The moment we opened the door, we couldn't see him and we shouted to the 3rd floor's group who didn't see anyone too. Damn, he escaped!

Another time I saw him (needed to be on guard since he was quite frequent) walking towards our condo block. Informed the rest of the gang and the security too. 2 security guys joined us and we tried tried to corner this peeping tom. Somehow, a neighbour, who was quite desperate to nail this guy walked out to the car park to have a better view at the staircase area. Unfortunately and fortunately, they saw each other. This neighbour was holding a golf club and sounded to one of the security guard who was our block 4th floor staircase. Upon noticing that we were hunting him down. He disappeared. We walked all over the place and guarded around but he was nowhere to be seen.

(to be cont'd.......)

Major Disaster

Firstly, diarrhoea struck right on early Thursday morning (close to 7am). Well, I didn't visit the toilet numerous times from 7am to 8am (latest time I need to leave house in order to reach office on time). Actually I stayed in the toilet from 7am to 8am. No chance to leave the toilet at all.

By the time I came out, I was so weak and the radar directed me straight to my bed again. Lied down there for maybe 20 minutes and the alarm bell rang again.............. oh man.....what a way to start my day. What did I eat the night before? What did I do?

I remembered me going for my first gym experience on Wednesday night (yeah, never joined a gym before). FYI, I have joined Impressive Fitness (5 mins walk from my condo). Passed my fitness test and went through 1 full round of the circuit trying out all the machines. Set my weights for each equipment with a trainer so that I know how much I should go for in my next visit.

Went home and ate some food (not home cooked) at home. After thinking back, definitely it was not the gym but the food that I ate. It was common food like rendang chicken, sambal prawn, some fried meehoon and got some home-cooked soup (proper one). Next thing I knew on Thursday morning was toilet visitation.

Then tried to log on to the internet at home. As the battery was waning out, I plug in the power cable. Didn't realise power was not connected properly and a warning window splased across my screen. HUUUUUUUUUUH???

No power supply? What happened? True enough, the power cable/adaptor has gone kaput. Before I can do anything further, might as well keep all. Went out to get some light breakfast at about 10am. Thought everything was over untiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiil - good thing my toilet is clean. Visiting it was not a problem.

Well each toilet visit was greeted with stomach cramp (so I thought) until the doctor (paid a visit later) said it was the intestines that could not take the food poisoning effect any longer. Couldn't even sit up straight at times when the pain hits me during the toilet visits.

By afternoon, everything has cleared, no more food intake mean no output ...... yeah, will keep it that way. Only fluid. But I could hear a big typhoon storm in my stomach. You could have hear it if you were beside me.

Rested well in the afternoon after a strainous day. By evening, the storm had calmed down but with infrequent warning given out by the stomach.

By this morning, seems ok but looks like having an urge to visit only........ hehehe. Only get to post this while in office as I borrowed a power adaptor from another colleague while waiting for the IT Dept to get a new one for me. Hopefully by this evening otherwise will be boring weekend at home without the chance to blog.

Ahhhhhhhh, can go to gym if no power adaptor but I can't be in the gym the whole day then.

Pattaya International Fireworks Festival

Pattaya is definitely firing up its presence internationally. Covid19 has hit many nations really hard and Pattaya wasn't exempted from ...
