Coup d'etat in Philippines

Is it going to happen in Philippines too? Coup d'etat is not uncommon words in this country. Seems that the modus operandi used in Thailand's coup could trigger similar situation in Philippines. President Gloria Arroyo doesn't seem to be ready to hand over her presidency in her comfy Malacanang Palace to anyone yet while there were past situations whereby coup d'etat almost happened in Philippines.

Paddington House of Pancakes

As for Saturday's dinner, went to Paddington House of Pancakes located at Hartamas Shopping Centre at Plaza Damas to have another go at its extensive menu based on pancakes (as my family had been to outlet at The Curve). Why do I say that it's extensive. Somehow, this food outlet is able to come up with all sorts of food preparation with pancakes thrown in be it as a dessert, main course, sweet stuff and just for a tea break kind of food.
I had this serving of double salami with a fish cake, 2 slices of beef bacon, 2 pancakes (Item #406) which was just nice for me (RM20.50). Their tangy sauce was mixed well with my dish.
The Grilled Double Chicken Burger with pineapple ring, onions, cheese, egg (Item #504) was a bit too mouthful for my wife with the 3 pieces of pancakes (RM20.50). I also had the Mango, Berry & Ice Cream - in this case it was vanilla flavour (RM12.50) to quench my thirst. Creamy and thick, that's good. We ordered another dish for our son/daugther to share it out which has salami, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, pancakes & chips (RM17.50). I have to move my butts to finish off their plate too so as not to waste food. The chips, being their favourite, had disappeared long time from their plate before I decided to help out. Have to do more workouts due to additional food intake during my break in KL.
We chose the Treasure Box (RM16.50) for our dessert which comes with a number of cute small pancakes at the bottom of the plate where the toppings comprise of a a vanilla ice cream, few slices of peach, maybe 1 or 2 whole strawberries, few slices of banana, a handful of dry raisins and some small pieces of roasted walnuts thrown in. We ordered this as we saw a nice picture in its menu depicting its presentation. But it was not to be as what it was shown.

Together with our ladyfriend, her parents (ordered 1.my same dish / 2.Prague-some fried fresh meat mixed with slices of unknown species, edible of course RM 17.50 / 3.Plum Blintz-a dessert with an ice cream together with 2 pieces of popiah-like pancake stuffed with small pieces of peaches, hawaiian coconut, nuts, strawberry, whipped cheese, raisins RM18.50) AND another lady friend with her son (ordered 1.my same dish for main course / 2.Pancake & slices of Bananas with Ice Cream for her son RM8.50, he didn't finish his dish too and the mom had to help out / 3.shared our Treasure Box dessert as we called for assistance to finish) our total bill came to RM230.

This restaurant is seemed to be well frequented by lots of bloggers (here and here) too as I could see a number of people giving their views on their visits there. Both outlets at The Curve and Hartamas are a bit small. Maybe they are testing the market response with this 2 outlets first before branching out with bigger outlets.

International Day of Peace

Came to know that every 21 September of each year has been declared as an International Day of Peace by United Nations......only 1 day, what about the rest of the year? Anyway, it's the 25th anniversary for the Day of Peace.

On this day, Malaysia's former Prime Minister, Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, has issued a press statement under the Perdana Global Peace Organisation.

Nothing much in Malaysia to remember this day of peace.

Polish Remover

A Polish man moved to the USA and married an American girl. Although his English was far from perfect, they got along very well until one day he rushed into a lawyer's office and asked him if he could arrange a divorce for him. The lawyer said that getting a divorce would depend on the circumstances, and asked him the following questions:

Have you any grounds? - Yes, an acre and half and nice little home.
No, I mean what is the foundation of this case? - It made of concrete.
I don't think you understand. Does either of you have a real grudge? - No, we have carport and not need one.
I mean. What are your relations like? - All my relations still in Poland.
Is there any infidelity in your marriage? - We have hi-fidelity stereo and good DVD player.
Does your wife beat you up? - No, I always up before her. Is your wife a nagger? - No, she white.
Why do you want this divorce? - She's going to kill me.
What makes you think that? - I got proof.
What kind of proof? - She going to poison me. She buy a bottle at drugstore and put on shelf in bathroom. I can read, and it say: "Polish Remover"

Bang & Olufsen

If you like MP3 players with good crispy sound with detailed keynote being played at the right tune, let me recommend you this top of the range MP3 player called BeoSound 2 produced by Bang & Olufsen. At this moment, market price for this player is around RM2,700. If you have the spare money, going for it is considered a very good investment. BeoSound 2 claimed that you cannot hear the difference from a CD, of course, if recording was done by using their newest audio system, called BeoSound 4, that lets you record from a CD or the radio (FM or optional DAB) directly onto an SD card.

B&0's stand alone speakers are also the much sought after brands in the world (at a price too).

Superman & Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali was on an airplane and a flight attendant reminded him to fasten his seatbelt.

Ali responded: "Don't you know who I am? I am Superman...and Superman don't need no seatbelt."

The flight attendant quickly retorted: "Superman don't need no airplane neither."
