Theme Parks to Bring in Tourists

Malaysia is trying hard to compete against its neighbouring countries, Thailand and Singapore to be precise, for tourists that prefer to travel and tour around this region.

The rumours of Disneyland coming to our shore didn't materialise but the government found investors to bring in the Legoland Park. This park will be situated at the much hyped Iskandar Malaysia where it will be opened to the public in 2013. I'm not pouring cold water on the project but there's nothing spectacular about this park.

How will this one theme park bring in the bulk of the tourists?

OK never mind, we'll go for another one then ............. Malaysia can't attract the likes of Disneyland or Universal Studio (which will be opening up in Singapore soon) so we have to go for whoever we can grab.

We managed to grab KidZania (never heard of it till it was reported) all the way from Mexico. Wow, another theme park? I don't think so but it's being painted as if it's going to be one.

It will only require a space of 60,000 sq ft and a small building is just nice enough to host this "theme park". I would say that this theme park will only cater for Malaysians and I doubt that it will create a hoo haa effect till it will attract overseas tourists or even kids from our neighbouring countries.

This Kidzania, to be situated at Mutiara Damansara, will be opened for business in 2012 and entrance fees based on Indonesia's Kidzania could be in the range of US$12 to US$13 for children (depending on the age group) and US$9 for adults. Yeah, for once the kids will cost more than the adults.

Will the parents bring their kids to this new theme park a few times in a year?

Viable Legoland Park in Malaysia?

The secret is out at last ........................ no Disneyland at Bandar Nusajaya of Iskandar Malaysia area.

Iskandar Malaysia managed to rope in Legoland to set up an entertainment park. It was rumoured that there will be two theme parks, with one being the anchor and the other is the secondary park. Nobody knows except for those in the top management .......... maybe they are in a blur too. Maybe Legoland is all we get after all.

When will we get to see it? Construction will begin in year 2010 and will be opened to the public in 2013. Long way to go man. The construction of Legoland will be at a cost of RM750 million (US$214 million).

Hopefully the Legoland operator, Merlin Entertainment Group, will be able to manage the park and draw many tourists to Malaysia. MEG is the world's second largest theme park operators ..... now that's a good start.

The Legoland will have 40 interactive rides but mainly catered for families with kids up to 12 years old. No adults' rides? Then will the operator of Tokyo Disneyland, OLC Group, get their wish to construct a theme park at this Bandar Nusajaya? I hope so.

Malaysia's Legoland will be targetting around 1 to 2 million visitors per annum which is a far cry from 15 million visitors targetted by Singapore's Integrated Resorts, namely Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World.

With worldwide financial institutions feeling the credit crunch, the funding is not going to be easy. Looks like the government of Malaysia is willing to provide a RM500 million loan to the joint owners, MEG (20% interest) and Iskandar Investment Berhad (80% interest). Will this be a viable investment by the joint owners?

Talented Enoch Fernando

On Sunday, a talented musician from USA paid a visit to my church. Enoch Fernando's the name. Doesn't ring a bell? He serves at the Saddleback Church located at Southern California.

He is actually from East India. When he was young, someone sponsored him to study music in the USA, who bought him a grand piano to start it off when he first arrived in USA those days.

One of Enoch's piano teachers (Lazlo ............ missed out the second word) was also the piano teacher for Richard Carpenters (together with sibling Karen Carpenters formed The Carpenters).

His talents on the keyboard is so marvellous. The way he played those music pieces was so enchanting and people were fascinated. Some of those music pieces were accompanied with music videos.

He has been nominated before in the Grammy awards under the Best Instrumental for Christian Country Music ........ he was surprised on how he got under this category - country music.

This round, he stopped by at Kuala Lumpur while on his way back to East India to minister to the people who are going through tough times in the state of Orissa.

Upon the end of the service, people went straight to a counter set up for selling his CDs and DVDs. It could have pushed his music up the Christian chart on that Sunday morning.

Bought two of his, Akustic Passion and Ageless Romance.
How could I not have a picture with a person who is so filled with God's talent.
This is his wife, Rebekah Jakab Fernando. She also goes by the name of Becky Jake. She has a powerful voice that could deliver and mesmerise you with the meaning of the songs with such an ease.

Her preference - country music.

May God bless both of your ministries that are touching people's hearts all over the world.

Maroon 5's Latest Album

Maroon 5 has yet again produced another album called "It Won't Be Soon Before Long". Have you gotten a copy of it?

Meantime, some simple facts about Maroon 5:-

* Who is the Lead Singer of the band Maroon 5?
- Adam Levine

* What was the original name of the band before they became Maroon 5?
- Kara's Flowers

* Name the guest singer in the Maroon 5 song “If I Never See Your Face Again?”
- Rihanna

Personally, I came to know about Maroon 5 when I first heard the "This Love" song. That song captured my heart right from the first time and my feet would be tapping away following its rythm. Can't wait to listen to their second album.

Marvel Super Heroes Theme Park

Tatweer Dubai has finally confirmed that their leisure and entertainment park, Dubailand, has gotten Marvel Entertainment (creators of superheroes action characters such as Spiderman, The X-Men, Iron Man, the Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk and the Marvel comics) to develop a superheroes theme park. It will be ready in year 2012.

I really wonder what sort of theme will they have inside this theme park. You get to swing with spidey web all over the theme park? Participate in a fight against evil figures together with Fantastic Four? Break unthinkable stuff that blocks your way like Incredible Hulk?

Well, it's a place that you can fantasize, so why not? It will be nice to be appointed as the official blogger for this Dubailand. You get to be invited to all events, all openings, all new rides, all new restaurants (quite hungry now).

Nicholas Tse Confronted Edison Chen??

Rumours flew all over the place that Nicholas Tse confronted Edison Chen (who had a sexual fling with Nicholas' wife, Cecilia Cheung, before she was married to Nicholas) in Hong Kong.

Paparazzis captured this picture.

The incident happened in a luxury hotel.

Police Protection at the Public's Expense

When I blogged about the Special Police Protection for the Rich Hongkies, one thing struck my mind. What if it was a common citizen that was caught in the sex rendezvous with all those beauties instead. Would he get such special police treatment?

As for Edison Chen, he got it. Upon completion of the press conference, his departure from the Hong Kong International Trade & Exhibition Centre (HITEC) took quiet some time as reporters jammed up the whole exit.

I'm sure the special police treatment accorded by the Hong Kong police was at the expense of public fund. So, you Hongkies (or Hong Kongers???) living in Hong Kong - part of your tax money went towards the provision of security for Edison Chen, a person who doesn't stay in Hong Kong most of the time.

Can you believe that this guy even received a police motorcycles escort from HITEC back to his residence.

Treatments reserved for superstar differs from common citizens like you and me?

Special Police Protection for the Rich Hongkies

The rich people in Hong Kong do get preferential treatment from the Hong Kong police force.

Edison Chen, the controversial Hong Kong singer/actor that has slept (yeah, crude word but it was true) and took numerous nude photos (numbering up to 1,300 - you didn't know?) with known female actresses/singers, came back to Hong Kong for a press conference on Thursday to explain and extend apologies to the whole world especially the ladies involved in his scandal.

The police force has to assign 100 personnels to be at the press conference. A group of the police force formed a barricade surrounding Edison's Merz S Class upon Edison's arrival. Reporters couldn't get close to him.

Another group of police was in the conference hall to prevent crazy newspapers and TV reporters from having a free for all (police's photos taken from ESWN).

I went into the Hong Kong police website but couldn't find the page that allows common citizen to hire the police force for protection purposes.

At yesterday's press conference held at Hong Kong International Trade & Exhibition Centre in Kowloon Bay, Edison admitted taking all those photos (so, it was not fakes at all) where he mentioned it was supposed to be private affairs (yeah, really private till each of the girls thought they were the special one in Edison's heart). He said that he didn't distribute a single photo and blamed it on an anonymous person by the name of Kira.

You can view/listen to his press conference (thanks to technology) right here where he mentioned about quitting the entertainment industry and would be helping out at charities. So, case closed now? Hong Kong triads lifted the threat of cutting off his hand?

Chance to be Pakistan Prime Minister

On 11 December 2007, an english tv channel in Pakistan, Dawn News TV, came up with a reality tv show called the 'Enter the Prime Minister' that will pit Pakistani people against one another to select a winner. The mechanism is just like the American Idol reality tv show.

The most co-incidental thing about this reality tv show - its premier show was supposed to be on 27 December 2007. And that was the day when Benazir Bhutto was killed.

Does the owner of the tv station has any sixth sense that that was the day that a new prime minister was required?

The reality tv show was supposed to be a fast track show in order to find a so-called candidate in time for the prime minister election scheduled to be held on 8 January 2008 (now postposed to Feb 08).

Besides being selected as the right candidate to stand as a prime minister for the nation, this reality tv show's winner will get two return tickets to Washington D.C.

Beyonce's World Tour

Ethiopia, in celebrating the much delayed New Millenium, did invite Beyonce to be part of that celebration in Addis Ababa.

And these 2 pictures were taken at that concert in Ethiopia.

No wonder the Malaysian government didn't agree with her performing in Malaysia.

Just look at that exposure of her skin.

Conditions to be adhered to while performing in Malaysia should be:-
* no hugging or kissing audience members or fellow artists
* no jumping or shouting
* no throwing objects on stage or at the audience
* no foul language
* AND OF COURSE NO SKIN from the tops of their chests to their knees

When I read "no throwing objects at the audience", I assumed that singers cannot throw themselves at the audience which is more of safety concern. 100% that the singers won't come out alive from the audience's grasp.

Well, Gwen Stefani did meet all those requirements in her recent concert in Kuala Lumpur and a Malaysian audience had an unforgettable night. I'm not into Beyonce's music but what's the hoo-hah about when the Malaysian government decided not to issue a licence for her concert. But the thing is was it the Malaysian government who disapproved first or Beyonce decided to shelve the idea of having the concert in Malaysia.

Black Eye Peas just held their concert in Genting (near Kuala Lumpur) last Friday and their fans enjoyed the music that were belted out. So, no problem with their kind of music and dressing was not an issue. I guess Gwen Stefani and Black Eye Peas wanted their fans to hear their music and gave them the opportunity of seeing them live in Malaysia.

You Beyonce fans can just take a flight over to Thailand and Indonesia for her coming concerts if you really like her so much. I mean if you really like her so much, what is the cost of air tickets/hotel accommodation compared to seeing her live for the first time or the umpteenth time. To me, Beyonce didn't put her Malaysian fans at heart.

Nowadays, the concert organisers are very careful with the government regulations as the organiser for Pussycat Dolls was fined by the local council (at the suburb area where the concert was held) for flouting decency laws. Will Pussycat Dolls come again?

Michael Jackson's Dead?

News came from Santa Barbara, California — During a search for evidence at the Neverland Valley Ranch, investigators discovered a corpse that has been identified as that of Michael Jackson, Santa Barbara police officials announced Tuesday.

"Coroners have officially pronounced Michael Jackson dead. From what we can tell, he died between 18 and 20 years ago," forensic investigator Tim Holbrooke said. "We are not certain, at this time, who—or what—has been standing trial in that Santa Maria courthouse."

According to Holbrooke, Jackson's corpse was buried just inches below a stretch of the miniature-train tracks that run throughout Neverland. The largely desiccated corpse wore the remains of a red, zipper-covered leather jacket and a single glove.

"We positively identified the body as Jackson by his dental records and DNA," Holbrooke said. "But even before we conducted a single forensic test, we began to suspect that that we'd uncovered the real Michael, and that the disturbing figure claiming to be Jackson was a fake."

Holbrooke said that, although the corpse was in an advanced stage of decomposition, when investigators compared the body to early-career publicity photos of Jackson, they saw a striking resemblance in bone structure and facial features. But when they compared the body to photos taken after 1987, the resemblance was negligible.

"This discovery raises a lot of questions, but it also sheds light on a number of disturbing incidents," Holbrooke said. "Frankly, Jackson had been acting pretty strange."

Forensic experts and music critics are postulating that Jackson was dead before the release of the multi-platinum album Bad. Detectives are currently analyzing the lyrics to "Man In The Mirror" for any clues relating to a look-alike entity that many suspect murdered the youngest member of the Jackson 5 and assumed his identity.

"We believe that Neverland served as some sort of freakishly whimsical tomb constructed by Jackson's killer," Holbrooke said. "We also suspect that all of the iniquities that occurred on that ranch were the work of the imposter. I wouldn't have ever thought it possible, but we are looking at a situation where the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old cancer patient is the tip of the iceberg."

Holbrooke said that, while the living Jackson is the leading suspect in the murder investigation, he "could be another victim of some sort."

"Basically, we have no idea what type of creature we are dealing with," Holbrooke said.
A member of the investigative team that discovered Jackson's body described the experience as "otherworldly."

"As we neared the perimeter of Neverland, the dogs started whining and howling like crazy," Santa Barbara County detective Frank Poeller said. "We had to pull them into the house. When we got to Jackson's bedroom, one of them almost choked himself to death on his leash trying to get out through the window. Minutes later, the same dog led us to the corpse."

A representative from Jackson's self-created label, MJJ Productions, said he was not surprised to find out that the current Jackson is an imposter.

"When we were recording 'Heal The World' for Dangerous, I could tell something was terribly, terribly wrong," MJJ manager Luke Allard said. "Michael didn't seem like himself anymore. He'd demand bizarre food and sit for hours in a hyperbaric chamber. His appearance began to become more and more peculiar. Soon afterwards, he started wearing a mask and confiding in a chimpanzee."

"I remember thinking, 'This man has become a monster,'" Allard said. "If only I'd known how right I was."

Allard said he thinks that the imposter broke ties with Jackson's former friends and surrounded himself with children who were too young to notice the radical change.

Vanity Fair reporter Beth Pither visited Neverland in 1994.

"A strangely fearful staff member led me to Jackson, but ran off before I opened the door," Pither said. "Standing there with my hand on an ice-cold doorknob, I heard strange, unnatural sounds—leathery wings flapping, a sorrowful wail, and loud hissing. A wave of dread passed through me as I opened the door, but all I found was Michael and some kids in pajamas eating ice cream and watching 101 Dalmatians."

While their claims have not been corroborated, other Neverland visitors have reported that when when Jackson entered a room, lights flickered, faucets ran blood-red, and screams escaped from the walls.

To aid in the investigation, the FBI enlisted Dr. Richard Weingarden, a noted expert on the paranormal from UC Santa Barbara. After only two hours, Weingarden abandoned the project.
"The smell of sulfur, the decaying facial features, the bizarrely high-pitched voice—it sounds exactly like..." Weingarden said, trailing off. "I'm sure it's nothing. Not a big deal. Nothing to be terrified about, certainly. I have to go. I've got a family."

Thomas Sneddon, the prosecutor in Jackson's child-molestation lawsuit, said it remains to be seen how the shocking discovery will affect the trial.

Megan Gustafson, who left her post as president of the Akron, and Michael Jackson Fan Club after the singer was accused of molestation, offered a positive view of the grisly revelation.

"This is very disturbing news," Gustafson said. "But to be honest, it's kind of a relief too. Thriller and Off The Wall are really amazing records. Now I can pull them out of my 'ruined by child abuse' storage bin and start listening to them again."

Making of Star Maker's Songwriting Competition

Interested to blog about a songwriting competition? Want to linger/mix around with performing artistes?

If you are, please read on!

There is an on-going songwriting competition being organised by Star Maker. Apart from being a music distributor, Star Maker is a recording label, with an internet radio station, event and music management services. They have put up a Malaysian Revival Songwriting Competition ("MRSC") for the past years and coming 2 December 2007 will be its finals again.

If you are a songwriter reading this particular blog posting, you can't submit your song for this year's competition. Don't despair as Star Maker has opened its registration for year 2008's competition.

Please note that Star Maker is looking forward to bloggers to blog about their events. I have made an arrangement with the producer that on 27 October 2007 bloggers could attend the boot camp/professional photo shooting session for MRSC 2007 participants/artistes. Bloggers could attend the session any time between 10am to 10pm. On that day, MRSC 2007 participants will also get consultation on image, make up, hair make over, stage presence and vocal advice.

If any bloggers who are interested to attend, please do provide your fullname, I/C no., blog web address and contact no. by emailing jonash1@yahoo.com (email title Star Maker) for registration purpose (otherwise they'll be wondering who are you snapping pictures away - stalkers??). You can bring your own camera, snap it, interview the artistes, then post it in your blog and promote the MRSC 2007 finals. If you want your photos to be taken by the professionals on that same day, you have to pay on your own lah (check with me on the price).

Will be making arrangement for bloggers to witness the backstage preparations during the MRSC 2007 finals. You'll never know, you could be standing beside a famous songwriter/singer in the making.

Were you part of the crowd at Laundry Bar, The Curve on 4 Oct? You would have noticed a band by the name of Army of Three. This band's music is currently being managed by Star Maker. I was caught up with other stuff and missed it.

Star Maker had also organised the One Rock 2007 held on 20 Sept at the Mines Square recently.

Prague Sinfonia Orchestra's Concert

Was at the Plenary Hall of the KL Convention Centre for the Prague Sinfonia Orchestra's concert on Saturday night. Arrived early in the midst of a light drizzle. At 8pm, it was still early for the Saturday party revellers to gather at the nearby discos / pubs / bars at Jalan Pinang and Jalan P. Ramlee.

The Plenary Hall's entrance was on the 1st floAdd Videoor. Upon arrival, collected the tickets from the organiser and they enquired whether I wanted to have a copy of the night's programme book (at a donation of RM20) ......

ahhhhhh OK, why not? What a man (that must be in their mind) ...... hehehe leng luis asked that magic question so another RM20 departed besides the ticket price of RM80 (car park ticket was RM7).

I was told that the dress code was smart casual. When I saw the way people had dressed up, it was as if going they were going to a ball. Was there another function at another hall? The ladies were there to kill you with their dressing.

After getting the ticket, I went to the washroom. Was a bit blur blur and nobody was around as I was early and pushed open a door.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh. I saw 2 ladies' reflection on a mirrow. Goooooooooooooooood thing I haven't step in. Stupid washroom signages. The difference between the lady and gent's signages were hard to differentiate. Can't proof my innocence as I didn't take a picture of it. I wouldn't want to be caught holding my phone camera taking picture right in front of the lady's washroom. Sneaked away to the guy's washroom which was at the other end.

Yeah, you have one signage guiding you from the Plenary Hall but once you reached the pathway where you need to decide, right? left? Nobody was around, nobody went in or out of any rooms.....so I took a good guess

Was at the last row but not of the hall. They have partitioned off higher seatings section as the crowd would not be that big.
Not a good place from where I was sitting, last row for the night and the corner of it. The sound was not too bad after all though I would have preferred a louder volume.

Out came the Prague Sinfonia Orchestra team led by Christian Benda, who was bald at the top like the great inventor, Albert Einstein.....hehehe but the best part has yet to come.

There were two young couples in their 20s who sat in front of me. They were talking and laughing quite loudly and I didn't mind as the concert has not started.

But then just as the Prague Sinfonia Orchestra team members took their respective places, they played Malaysia's national anthem and it was just right to stand up, which everyone did, whether local or foreigners (lots of them indeed) in total respect.

One of girls (seated in front) then said this "Waaaaaaah, so patriotic one ah!"

The guy said something which I didn't hear.

Both of them were yakking away and giggling (loud enough) while the national anthem was being played.

Your Bangsa Malaysia guy here couldn't take it anymore, stucked my head in between both of them and in a low bassy voice said "Hello! Excuse me!!!!!"

From that time till the end of the performance, they were aware of my existence. First time attendees for an orchestra performance???

The music piece played by Min-Lee (in red dress) with her violin was absolutely marvellous and captivating.

The soprano singer, Irma Lailatul, gave a solid rendition of the 'O mio babbino caro', a song which was dedicated to the late Luciano Pavarotti.
The Prague Sinfonia Orchestra team acknowledging the praise from the audience at the end of the performance. If you are going there for any function, please bear in mind that the air-cond is in tip-top condition. I could withstand the coldness of it and now I know why so many leng luis walked out of the hall halfway. They were dressed to kill, not knowing that the air-cond was so powerful, and almost killed themselves.

Prague Sinfonia in Malaysia

Prague Sinfonia Orchestra - this orchestra team, from Czech Republic, was born as an expanded version of the Prague Chamber Orchestra during their 16th tour in North America.

Christian Benda is their chief conductor and artistic director and they have collaborated for the last 10 years. Prague Sinfonia have been on 16 tours in the United States and Canada, 6 tours to Latin America and Japan. Recently they toured with great acclaim at South Korea, Malaysia and Singapore.

The Czech audience can hear them in their concert series held in the large hall of the Rudolfinum (Dvorák Hall) and as regular guest at the two major Czech music festivals, the Prague Spring and the Prague Autumn.

They have made many recordings for labels like EMI, Decca, Sony Classics, Naxos, Polydor, Nippon Columbia, Denon, BMG, Telarc, Ariola, Eurodisc, Supraphon, and their extensive discography boasts a number of prestigious prizes such as the Wiener Flötenuhr, twice the Grand Prix du Disque Académie Charles Cros, and, after having sold one million records, the Golden Disc Award.

After reading the above introduction, the renowned Prague Sinfonia Orchestra will perform a one-night only charity Gala Benefit Concert together with famed violin soloist Min-Lee, pianist Vaclav Macha and young Malaysian soprano Irma Lailatul at the Plenary Hall of the KL Convention Centre on 8 of September 2007. And I'll be there for sure. Orchestra's music is one of my favourite.

Please note that this is a charity concert where funds will be channeled to MY Budding Artists Fund (led by Kiwanis Club of PJ and the Smile Team) and the Sultanah Bahiyah Foundation.

I wonder whether I could stand besides the Sultan and Sultanah of Kedah, the Yang di Pertua Negri of Negri Sembilan as they'll be there to grace the charity concert and possibly the Yang di Pertuan Agong .............. hmmmmmmmmm

The organisers are planning 2 pre-concert cocktails: a VVIP Royal Cocktail to be hosted by the Embassy of the Czech Republic and also another VIP cocktail for the other VIP guests. Now how do I get in there?

Pac-Man World Championship

I remembered when I was young, the Pac-Man game was a craze. Be it on those handheld Games & Watch or in the arcade game shop, everyone was in it.

Trying to eat all the fruits in the screen and then the 4 powerful pellets that could turn you into a greater monster and eat those ghosts in return.
The craze has not ended after all this years. X-Box has taken a step further with this Pac-Man game. They had organised the Pac-Man World Championship in New York for their X-Box 360 owners.

Todate, only 1 gamer has achieved a perfect Pac-Man game. With just 1 Pac-Man, Billy Mitchell, from Fort Lauderdale, USA hit the maximum points of 3,333,360 in year 1999. That maximum points was achieved in 6 hours and video recorded by Twin Galaxies' Official Video Game & Pinball Book of World Records. Can you beat that?

45 Days in Jail

A 26 years old showbiz star has been sentenced to 45 days in jail for violating a drunk driving sentence that was imposed on her earlier.

Paris Hilton, the Hilton hotels' heiress, just couldn't care less with the earlier sentence and still went around driving on a suspended driving licence. Paris claimed she was not informed of the suspension. She even described that her punishment as cruel and unwarranted.

Paris was supposed to enter a suburban Los Angeles jail (like the picture shown left) on 5 June and starts her 45 days jail term. Having such a posh and luxury life since birth, she will die just by staying in the jail even if spared on those labour works in jail.

Which jail would that be? Received news that it will be the Century Regional Detention Facility located at Lynwood.
