Hunting for Food at Mid Valley

dit dit doot doot ...... played with the interactive digital touch screen board that could help you check out what was available in The Gardens. The place was big so need some help to look for food selection.

Ahhhhhhhhh found one, let's go to Din Tai Fung. Seems to be serving dim sum, a kind of breakfast made famous in Hong Kong. Lots of such restaurants serving dim sum in Malaysia also.

But be warned!!!!! Din Tai Fung, a restaurant located at the lower ground floor of The Gardens looks packed from the outside, one of the few restaurants that has opened for business. So, of course seeing that it was packed we went in.

Went in and saw that the prices of the menu were exhorbitant. I have always said that I don't mind paying for good food but when the price is way above board, I would not bow to such prices. Four pieces of shrimp 'siew mai' would cost you RM11.00 (no tax yet). Small serving of a plate of taufu would hit your wallet with a RM18.00 bill.

We walked out of the restaurant without ordering. Too bad. Our prediction - this restaurant will close down in time to come. They were just insulting my brilliance by putting those prices there. Insult a blogger, this is the kind of negative advert lah especially one who likes to eat.

Walked back towards Mid Valley instead and saw this new cafe opened by Seed, a local fashion house. Why not? If don't like, not obligated and can walk out again....hehe

From the front view of Seed's shop, you wouldn't have noticed the cafe which was fronting the Boulevard offices, same row as Maybank.

Walking further into the shop, you would notice a cafe behind some doors.

I came from the other end. Wouldn't have noticed it if I was inside Mid Valley.

Have to take brunch by now after the long hunt and a 'walk out'. We ordered a nasi lemak (how do you call this in english??)

This was RM14.90 and believe me, this plate of rice was indeed spicy. And when I said spicy, you will cry for sure and normally friends won't order it if I mention that it's spicy. My tongue is sort of immune to chili, whatever and however spicy.

A penne pasta with cheese, fattenning but close your eyes while eating it. Forget about those fats/diets, enjoy first.
This serving of Hainanese chicken rice was bountiful. Big plate of chicken breast. Unbelievable. The price also a bit unbelievable but much much better than that Din Tai Fung (yeah, repeating the name again in case you have forgotten)

The Gardens at Mid Valley

Woke up this morning and felt much better. So off to The Gardens, the new wing at Mid Valley area. Was in Mid Valley's basement car park by 10.30am to avoid the sudden surge of shoppers later on. Haven't taken our breakfast, so family decided to hunt for an eating place.

We took the route leading to The Garden from Mid Valley's centre court, going through a make shift tunnel. Quite a tight place initially and without people didn't keep left or right and very messy as everyone was heading into each other's path.

Even the lighting set used was unique (not switched on as it was day time).

Nice clothing materials was used as a cover and traffic has to be stopped to let pedestrian cross from one building to another while a bridge is still under construction.

If it rains, it would be impassable.

The interior design was absolutely fantastic and different from other shopping malls in the city. Those crossings on top seen from the ground floor gave a nice ambience.

This place - for the rich and famous lah..... all top branded goods, see here see there, touch here and there but can't afford. To me, this new shopping mall was built to match KLCC shopping mall's status.

I'm not saying we can't buy, cannnnnnnnnnnn but next few months would be on tight spending.

Many comfy sofa sets were made available for people who could be tired after walking around the big shopping mall.

But it was only around 10.45am and I could see people sitting down already. They got tired so fast???

Found out that the lower ground floor was the main eating area but sadly lots of the restaurants are not opened yet.

Start of Christmas Drama Practise

On Thursday night, it was the beginning of the Christmas drama practise. This team is mainly showing a Young Man's life who has just graduated from overseas university and was glad to meet up with his close friends while getting pressured from a quite materialistic girlfriend. He was gung-ho about his new job but got paired up with a snaky senior employee.

This team read through their script and tried to understand each other's role and character. This team comprise people from various background like a lawyer and an executive director of a airfreight forwarding company and I was glad that they were there even on a weekday night. It could have been more relaxed at home but their love for God is greater. (hmmm do they know that this picture would appear in the blogosphere???)

Just halfway through the practise, I received a SMS message from a colleague of mine based in Sudan. A note for me that I was required back there, my so-called second home (after being based there for 2 years plus). Oh noooooooooooooooooooooo .....................

My babies are about to be given birth ................... not real life biological babies but my 5 scripts. Painstakingly wrote it and I thought I could see this Christmas project in December. The moment I read that SMS message, I lost my mood immediately. Got lost in reading the script even though it was right in front of me. It really did disturb me there and then.

It's not that there were no capable persons that could take over but I felt that responsibility since it was me who gave the idea and wrote those scripts too. The fact was I wanted to see the end result of it also. Meantime, I would be bringing what I have in mind for the drama to Sudan with me leaving the 5 teams to strive it out ....................... sigh ...................... how to transfer my mind to them??

I was feeling not well too on Thursday afternoon in office and true enough, I felt warm when I got back home after practise. On Friday morning, my whole body was aching and fever with migraine had set in by then. Slept till 11am, crawled out to call office and had to find food to take medicine.

Nice day to sleep/rest and only managed to see doctor by 3pm plus. It was too hot outside (actually nothing compared to Sudan) but because I was not feeling well. Came back home and had simple meal for dinner. The worse thing is ................ I left my medicine at the clinic. What's wrong with me? Drove out to get my medicine later in the night and the nurse said she wanted to contact me. Wanted??????????? Should have called me when I was walking out of the clinic.

I feel much better now. Hopefully I'm getting back to normal. Maybe because I didn't blog hehehe. 2 more Christmas drama teams are having their practises tomorrow afternoon, more pictures also.

Minimum Wage is Too High?

How much is your country's minimum wage? In Malaysia, the Malaysian Trades Union Congress is only asking a minimum wage of RM900 per month to be implemented. In that case, Malaysia's cost of living is still low compared to many other developed countries.

In Hong Kong, a Poverty Relief Group did a study with a university there and the professor suggested a minimum monthly wage of HK$6,000 (approx. RM2,700) be implemented. This gave a shock to many people in Hong Kong.

Newly graduated law students could only earn around HK$7,500 while ordinary degree holder may just get around HK$6,000. In that case, the students may think why do I need to study so hard. Dropping out of school and doing a simple job without much responsibilities could earn you a pay similar with a degree holder.

Can you beat that? A Malaysian with a simple lifestyle can survive with RM900 (US$257) but a Honkie requires around RM2,700 (US$771) to live in Hong Kong. 3 times higher??? Sometimes, if your country is so developed, it will cause hardship to those in the lower income group.

Towards an Independent Judiciary System

PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CPPS Press Statement: Towards an Independent Judiciary System

The Centre for Public Policy Studies affirms the efforts of the Malaysian Bar in conducting a peaceful march to the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya. The CPPS also supports the memorandum that was subsequently submitted by the Malaysian Bar, to establish a Royal Commission of Enquiry to investigate the video recording of a lawyer who appears to be in telephone conversation with a senior member of the judiciary. A Royal Commission has the power to call upon witnesses and to extract information that would extend beyond the jurisdiction of the present Independent Panel.

Should the telephone conversation be genuine, this has severe implications upon the judicial system, where evidence shows extraneous influence upon the appointment and promotion of judges in Malaysia. This directly affects the cases which are then brought to court. The honour and dignity of the judicial system is in serious question.

In its Merdeka Statement that was launched in early August, the CPPS stated strongly that the independence of the Judiciary should be protected by establishing an Independent Judicial Appointments Commission. This Commission should comprise the Chief Justice, representatives from the legal profession and lay members that would make non-biased recommendations for the appointment and promotion of Judges for the High Court, Court of Appeal and Federal Court. Only such a Commission would ensure the transparent selection, appointment and promotion of Judges in the country.

The CPPS is therefore disappointed with the reaction of Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, who has accused organizers for creating a scandal to erode public confidence in the judiciary, and for dismissing the need for an Independent Judicial Commission.

Whilst the CPPS welcomes the setting up of the 3-member independent panel to investigate the authenticity of the video recording, it recommends that the Royal Commission with greater powers should be established. To address the larger and more important issue of an independent judiciary system, an Independent Judicial Appointments Commission should be immediately established. These measures must be taken to restore the integrity of the judiciary system in Malaysia that has for too long been compromised.

Two Patients in Mental Hospital

In Ireland there is a mental institution that every year picks two of it's most reformed patients and questions them. If they get the questions right they are free to leave.

This year the two lucky patients were Patty and Mike. They were called down to the office and left there by the orderly. They were told to wait as the doctor got their files. The doctor came out and motioned for Patty to come in for her questioning. When Patty came into the office she was instructed to sit in the seat across from the doctor.

"Patty, you know the tradition of this institution so I imagine you know why you are here. You will be asked two questions, and if you get them right, you will be free to go. Do you understand all that you have been told?" said the doctor with a rather sly grin. Patty nodded, and the doctor began to question her.

The first question was this. "Patty, if I was to poke out one of your eyes, what would happen?" "I would be half blind of course," Patty answered without much thought. "What would happen if I poked out the other eye?" "I would be completely blind," said Patty knowing that she had just gotten her freedom. The doctor then sent her outside while he drew up the paperwork and accessed Mike's files.

When Patty got into the waiting room however, she told Mike what the questions would be and what the correct answers were. The doctor calls in Mike and he followed the same procedure that he had with Patty.

"Mike, the first question is what would happen if I cut off your ear?" "I would be blind in one eye," he said remembering what he had been told. This received a perplexed look from the doctor but he just simply asks the other question so that he could figure out what the man was thinking.

"Mike, what would happen if I cut off your other ear?" "I would be completely blind," he answered with a smile as if he knew he had passed.

But then the doctor asked him what his reasoning was, and he said flatly, "Me hat would fall down over me eyes."

What You Can't Buy, Google Can

When you own a big private airplane, where do you park your airplane? As for John Travolta, he really need a big piece of land including a landing strip just behind his backyard to keep airplanes close to him.

Google's billionaires founders do not have a landing strip behind their backyard yet but their contacts are good enough to obtain permission to park at a federal-managed airport. The airport is only 7 minutes away from Google's headquarters.

Both Larry Page and Sergey Brin, get to park their private airplanes (which includes a Boeing 767 and two Gulfstream Vs) at the Moffett Field, an airport run by NASA that has been closed down. Only a helicopter operator and another airplane maker are using it currently.

You see, you just can't park your Boeing 767 anywhere you like as not all runways are built to withstand the weight/power of that plane. Rumour is that the Boeing 767 is purpose built to hold parties (wild or not, I'm not sure) that could hold about 180 people.

NASA has explained that Google could park their planes there owing to an unique agreement that allowed NASA to place scientific instruments and researchers on planes used by the Google founders and at the same time gets to collect scientific data on those flights. Partly to defray the cost of maintaining that runway too.

This type of arrangement is very similar to scenarios in Malaysia for those well-connected ones. And the above Google issue was exposed by a Californian blogger, Valleywag.

Walk for Justice

About 800 Malaysian lawyers (plus 200 of others) gathered at the Palace of Justice to begin their walk towards the Prime Minister's Department at noon. Why the delay? Apparently, 7 buses that were fetching the lawyers from the city centre were barred from entering Putrajaya. Nothing could stop them and they walked before the main walk. Walk they did, 3.5km to the Palace of Justice.
I'm so proud of this crowd. Just look at it, it represented the multi-racial Malaysia. This issue of Walk for Justice was not political nor confrontational but to request for an inquest into the shocking video.

It shows that many lawyers still cared for their profession and various individuals from other states came too.

Somehow, the authorities didn't take things for granted. The FRU police team was on standby with batons and shieds being held by the policemen. For goodness sake, the lawyers were only trying to hand over two memorandums:-
1) 1st memorandum called for a royal commission of inquiry to be set up to examine the claims made in the video clip, as well as the state of the judiciary; and
2) 2nd memorandum urged the establishment of a judicial appointments commission for the appointment and promotion of judges.

Malaysian Bar Council president, Ambiga Sreenevasan, said that the presence of the FRU police was 'an act of intimidation'. Kudos to the lawyers.

Lawyers' March Towards Justice

Malaysian Bar Council has called for a walk for justice in view of the recent video that showed a prominent lawyer talking on the phone in fixing the appointment of judges and outcome of cases.

With such evidence, the Malaysian Bar Council will be handing a signed petition at the Prime Minister's Department. Not just a handing over of a petition but hundreds of lawyers (and judges too?) will gather at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya before embarking on a walk to deliver the petition.

This will take place at 11am and whoever out there wants justice to be heard this time, the calling is for you! News are out that CNN, Reuters and Al-Jazeera will be there to witness the event.

Edmund Bon of the Bar Council has a message for you:
The walk tomorrow is a peaceful stroll to the PM's Office. Everything humanly possible is being done and has been done over the couple of days to ensure this. The Cabinet has been informed that we are doing this, and handing over a memorandum and a representative will be expecting us.

The walk is importantly (1) a show of solidarity of the Bar and civil society's positions on the issue (2) to send a message that we are serious about wanting a clean up of the Judiciary including by (3) calling for an independent appointments and promotion commission (4) calling for a royal commission to enquire into the recording and the state of the administration of justice in Malaysia.

A Star sms has been received about DPM announcing the establishment of a panel to investigate the authenticity of the clip. This does not change anything about the walk. We are still proceeding to walk because the issues we are advocating are not limited to the recording alone but with much larger issues as described above.

And would such a decision by the Govt for a panel be set up have been made without the continuous pressure from us and civil society which includes calling for this walk, more so after PM said there would be no royal commission?

Believe in the power we all have in making change, and believe in ourselves. We CANNOT be afraid to walk, we CANNOT look lowly on ourselves, we CANNOT give up our country to people who do not deserve to run it.

SO PLEASE JOIN THE WALK!

Meantime, another petition on the same is being organised where it will be handed over to the HRH King or Agong in due course.

Christmas Drama Being Organised

At last I was able to call for the Christmas Drama meeting last Sunday and split about 43 people into 5 drama teams to present 5 different dramas for the whole month of December 2007.

A drama team will present their drama for each of the Sunday with the last drama to be presented on Christmas Day itself. The dramas are not linked to each other, not like a series. I have actually finished 4 of the 5 scripts and trying my best to touch up on the final one.

I'm going to be busy from now onwards starting with one of the drama teams having their practise this coming Thursday night. Then 2 more on Saturday evening and another 1 on Sunday noon. The practise for the drama to be presented on Christmas Day will start as soon as the leading actors/actresses in each of the first 4 dramas have accustomed to their respective dramas first before calling for that Christmas Day drama in which I will be involved too. It's like pulling the best together. Not saying the rest are lousy, don't misquote me.

Thank God that 43 people have availed themselves for the Christmas dramas and managed to roped in a number of new faces. It would be easier to have more drama presentations in future with so many members now. I'm sure there would be lots of fun in all the practises as in previous years. More photos to come showing you those funny/gila moments......................

All the 5 dramas will incorporate some video scenes too where we will video shoot some scenes and play it in between the drama. At least it would not be mundane with live stage performance only. Video scenes are mostly a person's thought and it's like those cartoons that you have watched before, where their thoughts do have people moving here and there.......hehehe, something different lah. So, when this live actor is thinking of something, that won't be acted live but a video clip would be shown instead with all lightings blacked out.

Talking about lightings, I need to get 2 persons to be trained up for the new lightings that my church is going to invest in. Quite a hefty sum and must get non-itchy fingers fellas (cannot afford to damage those expensive lighting equipments). Haven't seen it yet, should be up by November.

Would be sitting down with a another church member who will be shooting/editing our videos. Will put up some photo/video teasers in the month of November to stir up people's interests and suspense too. Bloopers will be there too. Waaaaaaah, lots of interesting stuff coming up. All my blog readers are invited to watch all the 5 dramas in the month of December 2007.

this NOT a sponsored post.

For those of you who are in need of money and so happened to have a daughter, you can sell her at this website, Marry Our Daughter. Register and insert a profile, picture and then wait for response from potential buyer from any part of this world.

On the main page of the website, a 16 year old teenage girl is for sale US$49,995. Is you daughter worth that much too?

You must be thinking why did I blog about this website. Am I getting paid for such introduction? Or I'm part of the syndicate? Am I in deep financial trouble that I require such sinful money?

Apparently, this website is a hoax. It was launched 2 weeks ago and has generated a readership of 60 million hits from all over the world. Do report to the authorities if you do come across any websites that sell girls or boys online as it's known as human trafficking!

Graft in Malaysia

Interesting article that I have found in Asia Sentinel where it published about graft involving Malaysia's Defence Ministry. Next thing that came to my mind was no matter how many types of planes, tanks or submarines we have bought, we have already lost out on the economics side of it e.g.:-
* exorbitant amount has been paid for stuff not in accordance with the specifications (for naval vessels)
* high commission had been paid to Malaysian companies who acted as third party negotiators for both buyer and seller where it involves tax payers money here.

US-based Foreign Policy in Focus and British group Campaign Against the Arms Trade have written that grafts happened frequently in Defence Ministry.

Best part is, the article published a list of armouries owned by both the Royal Malaysian Navy and Royal Malaysian Air Force. After reading the list, was shock to see our Air Force has numerous airplane models of different makes where pilots have to learn different control panels and different spare parts are required. Is it economical?

From this article, I could see purchasing of tanks had erupted into controversies too. My My! I really wonder if we ever go to war, will our armies be confused.

New Extreme Sports at Big Sea

This group of 'flying' fishermen has a new way of pole vaulting hehehe.......
The pole that they are holding is actually a sharp piece of wood at the end used to poke deep into a fish. But what kind of fish that required such a big pole????

That pole is fit to fish or hunt down a big whale...... Quite inhumane to me.

Economic Freedom of the World

Economic Freedom of the World has issued their latest 2007 Annual Report showing Malaysia's position at no. 60 falling from no. 54. Another disgrace for our nation? Well, the government will dispute the findings again and say that even though the ranking has dropped, the individual components that made up the total score has increased (which is a fact) but why did our ranking dropped when our score has increased. One very good reason is that other countries have improved much much more than Malaysia thus leaving Malaysia behind .....

This report measures each country's policies on how it encouraged economic freedom where the publisher, Fraser Institute, an independent think-tank based in Canada, based this report on 42 different measures before releasing an index for 141 countries.

One funny thing about this report. The 2007 Annual Report is actually reporting the situation in year 2005. Next year's report will report 2006's index then. A bit outdated, isn't it?

Car Free Day

A number of countries throughout the world held a Car Free Day in order to cut down carbon emission. I knew from the newspapers that China and Indonesia did participate.

Can you imagine that the picture on the left is one of the major roads in Jakarta. I have been to Jakarta and their roads are packed to the brim and to be able to hold such a Day there, it was a good effort.

Malaysia is already planning to do something in future looking at the fact that 2 million enters Kuala Lumpur daily thus congesting and polluting the capital city. If you were to read the article KL eyes fee to ease traffic, you'll find that the City Hall Council may implement a payment system on cars coming into the city during peak hours, a system that has been implemented in Singapore (ages ago), London and Stockholm.

So, KL city folks, be prepared to pay for additional cost for driving your car into the city and the petrol price will increase after the general election too.

Japan's High Class Cybercafes

I do frequent Kuala Lumpur's ("KL") cybercafes those days before I went over to Sudan, usually on Friday nights to show-off my combating skills in the Counter Strike game (a sniper myself) but not lately. Got too many things to do. In KL's cybercafes, the rate is about RM2 to RM3 per hour, would say all of it are air-conditioned with a quite comfortable chair for you to sit on for the next few hours.

They will usually have a good pair of speakers for each computer terminal. Even if your speakers are out of order, your neighbour's speakers on both sides would be loud enough. But some nerds would turn on their speakers to the max... as if the last person in the cafe needs to listen to it too. If you wanted some drinks, some cybercafes provide for it at a slightly higher price. Food? Nope. That's they have in KL's cybercafes.

When the Japanese goes into a business, they will try to outdo every single person in the world. Nowadays, Japanese cybercafes are not only serving students from schools/colleges but targetting young professionals or people who demands for extra services (don't think dirty).

In Japan, if you are the owner, providing simple facilities like those found in Kuala Lumpur would have caused your business to close down within a month. What do customers ask for in Japan? Japan's broadband service at home/office is superbly fast and what must a cybercafe provide to draw customers.

Innovative cybercafe operators are providing the following to 'steal' customers from their next door competitors:-
* Your chair is not just a chair but a massage chair;
* DVD rentals within the cybercafe;
* Piping hot shower;
* Snack selection up to 40 dishes;
* Manga libraries;
* Theater rooms complete with large flat-screen TVs; and
* Design that mimics a Bali resort hotels.

What's their rates like? US$17 would allow you to surf up to six hours with free flow of soft drinks and when you are tired from the surfin, you could get some magazines and comics from the library to read or have a quick shower (with toiletries and towels provided).

Cybercafe operators like Valics (under the Kaikatsu Club brand) and Aprecio have big-time investors behind them. This would be the kind of upscale cybercafes that would come to Malaysian shores when the investors are ready to dump their money into this business.

Malaysia BOLEH! (Malaysia CAN!)

TELECOMMUNICATION
After digging to a depth of 100m last year, Russian scientists found traces of copper wiring dating back 1000 years, and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network one thousand years ago.

So as not to be outdone, in the weeks that followed, American scientists dug 200m, and headlines in the US newspapers read: "US scientists have found traces of 2000 year old optical fibers and have concluded that their ancestors already had advanced high tech digital telephone 1000 years earlier than the Russians."

One week later, a Malaysian scientist En Mat Boot Apiau, reported the following: "After digging as deep as 500m at Tg.Kidurong, Malaysian scientists found absolutely nothing. They have concluded that 5000 years ago, their ancestors were already using wireless mobile phones."

INSURANCE
The husband of a pregnant wife was thinking of buying insurance for his unborn baby. So he asked Great Eastern and the agent said, "Don't worry man, we'll provide insurance right from the basket to the casket".

The man was impressed but thought that he should probably seek another opinion. He then approached Prudential. The agent replied, "Oh, we have a new insurance policy which can protect your unborn child from the womb right up to the tomb".

The man was stunned but thought that maybe all salesmen like to bullshit and decided to see the agent from AIA. He told the AIA agent what Prudential and Great Eastern had to offer.

The AIA agent thought for a while, and then said, "Tell you something, we have one that is even better than Prudential and Great Eastern.. We'll insure your child from erection to resurrection.

Banta and His Beer

Banta walks into a bar for a bar and takes a seat. However, just as the bartender put the beer on the bar, there was a loud disturbance outside. Hey ran out to see what was going on but soon went back to drink his beer.

When he got back he found his glass empty and a note saying: "Thanks for the beer!"

Banta was a little ticked-off but ordered another beer anyway. Again, just as the bartender put the beer down a loud crash was heard in the street. Thinking that someone ran into his parked car, Banta runs outside to check on things. Seeing that his car was okay he returned to the bar and again found his glass empty and another note that said: "Thanks again, this was as good as the first one."

Well he still hadn't had a beer to quench his thirst, so he ordered another. Just as the bartender put the beer down, a series of shots were heard outside. This time Banta wasn't going to lose his beer to anybody. So he spit into the beer and left a note saying, "Enjoy, I just spit into the beer." He then ran outside to see what had happened.

When Banta returned he was delighted to find that his beer was just where he left it.

However this time the note said: "You enjoy, I spit in it too!"

Got Slapped for Mysterious Lady's Voice

A woman wanted to reach her husband on his mobile phone but discovered that she was out of credit; she asked her son - to use his own phone to pass an urgent message to daddy who is at work site.

After the son had called, he got back to mummy to inform her that it was a lady that picked up daddy's phone the three times he tried reaching dad on the mobile phone. (Women!!)

She waited impatiently for her husband to return from work site, immediately when she saw him, she gave him a very hot tight slap. While the hubby was trying to ask why the slap? She repeated the slap, people from the neighborhood rushed around to know what is happening.

The man asked the son to tell everybody what the lady said to him when he called, the son said - "The number u are trying to call is not reachable at the moment. Please try again later".

Tight Schedule Lately

Friday was a bit rush at work and as colleagues were to come to work on Satuday morning and I can't make it in the morning, I might as well stay back on Friday night to finish whatever I can. By 10pm, stomach was calling for its best friend - food!

Went off and was surprised to see a jam along Jalan Tun Razak after 10pm. Maybe it was the muslim citizens making their way back home after their break fast meals or the night prayers during the Ramadan month. It was my turn to break fast (last meal was lunch time), it's my dinper now. What? What dinper? Well, a meal between breakfast and lunch is called brunch. Since mine was between a dinner and supper, I guessed it was dinper then.

Venue was Vitya mamak restaurant, no more a stall but a restaurant. Took a mee goreng and teh tarik besar. Cost me RM4.20.

Went home, attended to self need and relaxed in front of the tv to watch the Astro on Demand's The Drive of Life series for 45 mins. Thereafter, attended to some stuff for my friends' wedding tomorrow morning at church. Found one of the songs we wanted for the wedding. Another hectic day tomorrow. Have to be in church by 8.30am to prepare the place for the wedding ceremony that will commence at 11am.

Looks like I have to go back to office after cleaning up the church. Go to office, work, rush and then rush back home to prepare myself for the chinese wedding dinner at a restaurant along Jalan Imbi. I read in the newspaper that the road directions\ has changed at Jalan Imbi. Now I'm wondering which way is which. Should I come from Smart tunnel or come from the direction of Jalan Tun Razak/Jalan Bukit Bintang junction?

What a day it will be tomorrow.

Luxury Fish Bait for Fishing Trip

I do fancy luxury lifestyle at times, pampering oneself to those stuff that may cost you a bomb. I have known some rich friends who can just shop without looking at the price tag. Just put it at the counter and pay whatever the price quoted.

But when certain goods are overpriced, though I don't buy/use it, I will ridicule those stuff also.

I seldom go fishing but some friends do it quite often. Some will use ground worms (dug for it at their garden or some gardens). Some will get those tiny prawns. Some will go for a fake tiny fish. When rich people decide to go for fishing, they may go in their top class yacht with crews towing along, bringing their fishing rods and bait (hook it for them as well).

A company, MacDaddy's Fishing Lures, that specialises in fishing lure (so-called bait) decided to capture the rich men's market by producing various kinds of fishing lures.

To the extent, the company crafted a fishing lure that will make everybody's eyes popping out (burst out in fact) - weighing just over 3 pounds of glimmering gold (14-k and 18-k ) and platinum, encrusted with 100 carats of diamonds and rubies (4,753 stones to be exact). Just over 12 inches in length. It's called "The Million Dollar Lure".

Why that name? Because it will cost you US$1,000,000 for one stupid bait.

And the rich and famous will throw this fishing lure/bait down a river/pond/sea for the sake of their fishing hobby. This is really way way out. For those who do fish out there, I'm sure your bait did go missing sometimes, not once but a few times in one session.

Malaysia's First Astronaut

For sure this guy's name will enter Malaysia's Book of Records (for input that could not be 'inputted' into any other records e.g. Guinness World of Records ... hehe).

Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor (on the left) has already been selected for the space trp to the International Space Station ("ISS"). He will launch with the Expedition 16 group on a planned 10 October 2007. If you were to read his write-up in ISS, he's only a spaceflight participant ...... hehehe - what's the meaning? Only a tourist up there?

A nicer word instead of "he knows nuts"???

The other Malaysian back-up astronaut, Dr Faiz Khaleed, will be watching the launch then at the ISS Flight Control Room with saliva drooling of course. And when both of them are bored after a long training day, they will also blog - Angkasawan Blog.

Proud of them. It's not easy to push yourself through their tough space training programmes. Moreover, they are fasting during the Ramadan month.

But then how come Malaysia's major newspapers didn't publish this so-called big news. Apparently, our Prime Minister was so busy that he hasn't time to attend a function to announce this selection of the astronaut. Busy lah.... so many controversies lately.

Jose Mourinho is Gone

Wondering how are Chelsea fans feeling right now after enjoying 3 years of good football.

With their flamboyant manager, Jose Mourinho, leaving Chelsea abruptly it may dampen the motivation level amongst the players. I'm really looking to this coming weekend's match between Man Utd and Chelsea. What will Avram Grant implement with him being put in charge of the team temporary.

Jose issued a statement yesterday in view of his departure from Chelsea. If you read the statement, you will note that he didn't thank Roman Abramovich or even the management. He did mention that he was proud with his work at Chelsea.

He thanked the club supporters and players and most incredibly, his children's school teachers. What has the school teachers got to do with Chelsea???

Chelsea, Chelsea........... I sms'ed' a friend of mine, die hard Chelsea fan - "My condolence, Jose Mourinho has been sacked" early yesterday morning. Till now, no response from him ..... hehe

One of Malaysia's best football pundits, Serbegeth Singh aka Shebby, still dare to predict that Chelsea will beat Man Utd at Old Trafford this weekend. Let's see.

Outer Space Meteor Hit Peru

Scientists had long time ago predicted that a large meteor may hit the earth on 1 Feb 2019 and wipe out everything, making earth lifeless.

How big or how small should a meteor be in order for it to cause major damage to the earth or environment.

Few days back, a large piece of 'meteor' gave a good landing at Carancas, a town in Peru near the Andes mountain range. This will give scientists a good chance to conduct further studies.

Whether the scientists get to conduct a research, it depends on how dangerous can it be first in approaching such a 'meteor'. Residents living nearby the 'meteor' and those who had went nearer to have a closer look have been reported sick. Was the meteor toxic? Non-environmentally friendly?

Earlier investigations have prompted the Peruvian Nuclear Energy Institute to state no radiation had been detected and that it could not be a satellite part. The 'meteor' landing left a 30m (98ft) wide and 6m (20ft) deep crater. That's really huge!

New Job

A taxi passenger tapped the driver on the shoulder to ask him a question. The driver screamed, lost control of the car, nearly hit a bus, went up on the footpath, and stopped few centimeters from a shop window.

For a second everything went quiet in the cab, and then the driver said: 'Look mate, don't ever do that again. You scared the daylights out of me!'.

The passenger apologized and said, 'I didn't realize that a little tap would scare you so much.'

The driver replied, 'Sorry, it's not really your fault. Today is my first day as a cab driver - I've been driving a van carrying dead Bodies for the last 25 years..........................

Voodoo Could Download Movies????

USA will see a solution for movie buffs (I'm one of them) who has no time to go to the cinema to watch the latest movies. A tv set-top box called Vudu (weird name which is almost similar to voodoo - witchcraft related name.....eerie). Of all names.

The gadget which has a 250 gigabytes harddisk could allow you to download and store up to 100 movies at any one time. In USA, the charge per movie download could be around US$2 to US$4. That's so much cheaper in going for a movie at the cinema.

When we go for a movie, we pay for the car park, definitely will dabble into some meals beforehand, get the tickets, some titbits during the movie and then a drink after the movie. Altogether may cost a bomb and if you were to do it often, there will be a huge dent in your wallet/purse.

Only one setback if it was to be released in Malaysia. Our broadband service is tethered to a certain extent. Frequent disconnection or slow downloading speed may not favour this Vudi gadget which required dedicated DSL line.

While watching a downloaded movie, another movie could be downloaded at the same time and you could download movies from other Vudu users too. Not bad. I want it. Back in Sudan, I have been watching all movies (up to date) but since back in Kuala Lumpur, somehow I have lost time for it.

Belgium is Up For Sale

If you are not a ruler of a country or even a politician that could rule a country indirectly, you could have a chance. An unhappy Belgium citizen posted his country for sale under eBay.be but it has been taken down now....hehe

Why does he want to sell his country? A third party could wreck his country for all he knows. Reason - there is no government in Belgium for more than 100 days now since the government was disbanded. The two political parties, Dutch-speaking Flemish and the French-speaking Walloons, are in not talking terms. They can't agree on a simple coalitian to rule the country that caused a standstill now. Good thing the economy is strong that it could still run smoothly. I bet Malaysia can too (pun intended).

eBay has taken the website down yesterday as there were buyers who had keyed in their amount, the last call at 10,000,000,000 Euro. There's one catch, you need to be responsible for Belgium's loan. So your investment is actually more than 10.0 billion Euro. Outstanding debt was standing at 220.0 billion Euro ..............

In future, if you don't like your country, sell it at the local eBay located in your country (if you have one, of course). Malaysia has one, http://www.ebay.com.my

Wheels of the World

Eye On Malaysia was launched on 6 Jan 2007.

The Great Dubai Wheel is under construction and its wheel diameter will be around 185 meter.

One of the latest attraction in Fukuoka of Japan - the Sky Dream Fukuoka which is about 112 meter.

In bringing up its tourism reputation, the Abu Dhabi emirate is planning to construct a unique Diamond Ring Hotel.

The Singapore Flyer in Singapore of course, should be by March 2008.
This London Eye has been operating succesfully and was featured in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer's movie.
And the not to be outdone ....... Pakistan Eye. I really admire their creativity actually (but is the wheel real?)

Pattaya is definitely firing up its presence internationally. Covid19 has hit many nations really hard and Pattaya wasn't exempted from ...
