Chris Evert's Divorce

Many younger folks may not have heard of Chris Evert (doesn't mean I'm old). FYI, she was a former tennis ace and holds 18 Grand-Slam tennis titles.
Recently, a divorce outcome required Chris Evert to give up nearly a third of her net worth, according to the details of her divorce finalized on Monday. Evert, now 51, signed a settlement agreeing to pay $7 million in cash and securities within 48 hours to her ex-husband Andy Mill, 53. Financial disclosure forms listed Evert's worth to be $24 million with her declaring a monthly income of $58,333 and total monthly expenses of $41,666.

Evert will keep the couple's $2.8 million home in suburban Boca Raton, and Mill gets their $4 million vacation home in Aspen, Colo. Get your butts of your couch and go straight to the tennis court. Cover Up Or Else

Women working in retail outlets and restaurants in Kota Baru, the Kelantan state's capital city, (a state in Malaysia under the rule of an opposition Islamic political party - Parti Islam SeMalaysia a.k.a PAS) have been warned to mind their dressing or be prepared to face a fine. The Kota Baru Municipal Council (MPKB) has announced that it would “no longer tolerate indecent dressing” by women, both Muslim and non-Muslim.

Under local council by-laws women who “dressed sexily or indecently” could be fined up to RM500 (US$138). “Such outfits are prohibited here as it smears the reputation of Kota Baru and affects its status as an Islamic City. The local council added that although punishment for indecent dressing was in place under the by-laws, it had not been totally enforced. “But now, MPKB will no longer tolerate skimpy outfits, following mounting complaints from the public,” MPKB PR officer said, adding that under the by-laws, women working in retail outlets should wear decent clothes. Council enforcement officers, he added, would step up checks in various localities. He said MPKB would focus on “suspicious areas”.

The council stated that they had received complaints from ratepayers that certain shop assistants and waitresses here donned sexy outfits, supposedly to woo more male customers. Under the standard dress code here, a Muslim women has to be covered until the ankles and wear a tudung. Non-Muslim women are required to wear decent clothes. Tight-fitting tops and pants were not allowed, even for non-Muslims, the PR officer said.

Woman's Ashes Mistaken For Crack

A news article from a Florida newspaper, Sun Sentinel, read ... "When Nathan Radlich's house was burgled, thieves left his TV, his VCR, and even left his watch. What they did take was "... generic white cardboard box filled with grayish-white powder." (that at least is the way the police described it)

A spokesman for the Fort Lauderdale police said "that it looked similar to cocaine and they'd probably thought they'd hit the big time."Then Nathan stood in front of the TV cameras and pleaded with the burglars: "Please return the cremated remains of my sister, Gertrude. She died three years ago. "Well, the next morning, the bullet-riddled corpse of a drug dealer known as Hoochie Pevens was found on Nathan's door step. The cardboard box was there too; about half of Gertrude's ashes remained. And there was this note.

It said: "Hoochie sold us the bogus blow, so we wasted Hoochie. Sorry we snorted your sister. No hard feelings. Have a nice day." (source: 4 June 1993, Sun Sentinel)

Honey, What's For Dinner??

A man feared his wife wasn't hearing as well as she used to, and he thought she might need a hearing aid. Not quite sure how to approach her, he called the family Doctor to discuss the problem.

The Doctor told him there is a simple informal test the husband could perform to give the Doctor a better idea about her hearing loss."Here's what you do," said the Doctor, "stand about 40 feet away from her, and in a normal conversational speaking tone, see if she hears you. If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response."

That evening, the wife is in the kitchen cooking dinner, and he was in the den. He says to himself, "I'm about 40 feet away, let's see what happens." Then in a normal tone he asks, "Honey, what's for dinner?" No response. So the husband moves to closer to the kitchen, about 30 feet from his wife and repeats, "Honey, what's for dinner?" Still no response. Next he moves into the dining room where he is about 20 feet from his wife and asks, "Honey, what's for dinner?" Again he gets no response so; He walks up to the kitchen door, about 10 feet away. "Honey, what's for dinner?" Again there is no response. So he walks right up behind her. "Honey, what's for dinner?"

"James, for the FIFTH time I've said, CHICKEN!"

Moral of the story: The problem may not be with the other one as we always think - could be very much within us..! SO don't always blame others for the things that you may lack.

World number one Tiger Woods, who launched his own design company last month, is to create his first course in Dubai. The new development will include a 7,700-yard, par-72 championship course, golf academy, clubhouse, 80-suite hotel for VIP guests, 300 luxury villas, 20 mansions and a community retail area.

Tiger Woods (left) was seen looking at a blueprint of the golf course with Salem Dasmal, chairman of Dubailand, in Dubai on Sunday. The complex will be designed by Tiger Woods Design and developed by Tatweer, a member of Dubai Holding.

It is scheduled for completion in late 2009 over an area of 25 million sq feet at Dubailand, the region’s largest tourism and leisure project. (source: World News)

U.S. Chicken Unsafe

After blogging about KFC's chicken on 12 Nov 2006, a consumer group in USA has reported publicly that 83% of chicken sold in U.S. grocery stores may contain bacteria that cause foodborne illnesses, 34% points higher than the rate it found 3 years ago.

Consumers Union's Consumer Reports said tests on 525 chickens -- including samples from leading brands Perdue, Pilgrim's Pride Inc. and Tyson Foods Inc. -- showed most of the poultry had campylobacter or salmonella, two of the leading causes of food-borne diseases. Campylobacter bacteria, which can be carried by birds without them becoming ill, but causes diarrhea in people. Salmonella, which causes diarrhea, headache and fever in most people, is one of the most frequently reported causes of food-borne illness in the United States.

The National Chicken Council said the report contained nothing new and "greatly exaggerated" the rate of bacteria in raw chicken. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimated the two bacteria, which can be spread through other avenues in addition to chicken, cause millions of illnesses and 700 fatalities annually. U.S. Agriculture Department's Food Safety and Inspection Service said the study was riddled with flaws such as a small sample size and uncertainty over the report's methodology. Who is correct?
