Understanding Job Requirements

At times when you go through the classified ads to look for a job, you really wonder what do they mean by publishing in that in the ads. Here are some of the 'jargon', picked up from Nessa's Mumblings, used by the Human Resource fraternity:-

- "Competitive Salary" - We remain competitive by paying less than our competitors.
- "Join Our Fast Paced Company" - We have NO time to train you.
- "Casual Work Atmosphere" - We don't pay enough to expect that you will dress up.
- "Must be Deadline Oriented" - You will be six months behind schedule on your first day.
- "Some Overtime Required" - Some time each night, some time each weekend.
- "Duties will Vary" - Anyone in the office can boss you around.
- "Must have an eye for Detail" - We have no quality control.
- "Seeking Candidates with a Wide Variety of Experience" - You will need to replace three people who just left.
- "Problem Solving Skills a Must" - You are walking into a company in perpetual chaos. Haven't heard a word from anyone out there. Your first task is to find out what is going on.
- "Requires Team Leadership Skills" - You will have the responsibilities of a manager without the pay or respect.
- "Good Communication Skills" - Management communicates poorly, so you have to figure out what they want and do it.

You think you meet the above criterias?

Obedient Wife

There was a man who had worked all of his life, had saved all of his money, and was a real miser when it came to his money. Just before he died, he said to his wife, "When I die, I want you to take all my money and put it in the casket with me. I want to take my money to the after life with me."

And so he got his wife to promise him with all of her heart that when he died she would put all of the money in the casket with him. Well, he died.He was stretched out in the casket, his wife was sitting there in black, and her friend was sitting next to her.

When they finished the ceremony, just before the undertakers got ready to close the casket, the wife said, "Wait just a minute!"She had a box with her, she came over with the box and put it in the casket. Then the undertakers locked the casket down and they rolled it away. So her friend said, "Girl, I know you weren't fool enough to put all that money in there with your husband."

The loyal wife replied, "Listen, I'm a Christian, I can't go back on my word. I promised him that I was going to put that money in that casket with him." "You mean to tell me you put that money in the casket with him?"

"I sure did," said the wife. "I got it all together, put it into my account and wrote him a check. If he can cash it, he can spend it.

Viral Tags

Became involved in a Viral Tags Blog Rank Boosting Experiment that I came across in This Is Miracle. The original matrix is here. Copy the matrix, change the Host Tag to the three words that you want to use, and add their tag into the matrix, if it isn't there already. Most importantly, when someone adds a matrix, be sure to add them to your list. Then, spread the word.

Here is the current matrix: Instructions: Important Update - Please read here!

1. Copy and paste the matrix of "ViralTags" below courtesy of Founders Cafe (to support Jimmy's quest of launching his own Internet Startup with a shoestring budget, please consider subscribing to his Full RSS Feed to see his triumphs and struggles in real time).

2. Substitute the Host Tag and one of the "Viral Tags" in the matrix with your anchor text of choice with your blog's URL. Please keep anchor text to a max of 3 words to keep the matrix size manageable.

3. When you get a ping back from someone that has your link in one of their "Viral Tags", practice good karma by copying his/her Host Tag's anchor text (automatically the associated link will also be copied) and paste it over one of your "Viral Tags" below.

4. Encourage and invite your readers to do the same and soon this can grow virally.

If everybody who copy and paste from your blog does the same, pretty soon this will spread and go viral. So, the sooner you participate, the more links with anchor text you will receive.

======== Copy and Paste from Above this line ========

There it is folks. This should help you improve your Technorati ranking, SERP and Google PR. Please leave comment here if you have copied from this matrix so that I can add you just in case your ping back didn't reach me. Technorati sometimes take a longtime to ping back.

Empire Tower Tilting?

Which Empire Tower? Not the one located in New York or Bangkok but the news was about the building located at the junction of Jalan Ampang / Jalan Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur.

Not just a rumour but large cracks had appeared on the road side.
Next to Empire Tower, a high class residential tower, My Habitat, is being constructed and it was understood that initial contruction may have affected the road in between this residential tower and Empire Tower.

TV and radio stations have broadcasted it yesterday and said that the situation was under control and occupants in Empire Tower were safe. So, are the tv and radio stations ready to bear the consequences if otherwise happened?

We will see how the main contractor next door is going rectify the situation and what the new owner will do to protect their investment. New owner? Yeah, Empire Tower was recently bought over by Macquarie Global Property Advisors from Asia Pacific Land Bhd, who apparently is the developer for My Habitat.

Somehow, the local newspapers have not highlighted this situation......... wonder why? Kept at low profile to protect rental price or the sale of the new residential tower? Your guess! Some of the photos being released:-

Due to this situation, the building management had initially disallowed tenants to park their cars on the Levels 6 to 9.
Why ah? Afraid that the building may tilt more with the weightage of those hundreds of cars? But the thousands of people in it are heavy too ....... didn't consider that?

Controversial Sports Academy in UK

Many days have passed by and lately I have not heard of any update on Sports Academy to be located at the Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre in Brickendonbury, Hertfordshire, outside London.

Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister, Najib Abdul Razak has said that the Sports Academy would be fully operational by April 2007. I wonder if that's the case now. Even though a town planning consultants, David Lane Associates, have been appointed, invoice raised and presumably paid as well, what's the status now?

From some further readings on this case, it seems that the town planning consultants have changed. Further money be made again to cater for the new consultants?

The funny part was when the DPM quoted that Malaysia's Under-16 team would train with Arsenal. Train they did but against Arsenal's Under-16 team also. A match of three 30 minutes sessions with 2 intervals in between and that was it......... hahahhahahahhahahahhahha..... such a match was hyped up to boost what?????? Ego?

If you want to know more rumours on this controversial sports academy in UK, continue reading Myth or fact? You decide.

The “L” License

A teenager who had just received her learner’s permit for driving offered to drive her parents to church. After a hair-raising ride, they finally reached their destination.

“Thank you!” said the mother as she got out of the car and breathed a sigh of relief.

“Anytime”, her daughter replied.

As the mother closed the door she said, “I wasn’t talking to you. I was talking to God.”

New World Heritage Sites

New World Heritage Sites have been announced by UNESCO:-

The UN has expanded its list of the world's most valuable cultural treasures, adding Australia's Sydney Opera House, described as having lasting architectural influence.

Bomb-damaged Shia Muslim holy sites in the Iraqi city of Samarra were added - and immediately flagged up by Unesco as being in danger.

Lope-Okanda in Gabon was added because of its unusual mix of culture and nature, with rainforest and savannah environments home to a great diversity of animals.

India's Red Fort complex, completed in 1648, was honoured for reflecting Indian history from the Mughal period through to independence.

Twyfelfontein in Namibia, which has one of the largest concentrations of rock carvings in Africa, is the country's first World Heritage site.

The French city of Bordeaux in the south-west also made the list as the location of one of Europe's biggest 18th Century architectural urban areas.

The Diaolou villages in Kaiping, in China's Guangdong province, feature 1,800 fortified tower houses. They were built as a response to banditry in the late 19th and early 20th Century.

The old town of Corfu in Greece also made the Unesco list. Unesco aims to work with national governments to preserve sites of world cultural significance.
