Just My Luck / End Game / Thank You For Smoking - movie review

On the way back, watched 3 movies in the airplane....so thought of sharing with you my reviews on it.
Just My Luck - starring Lindsay Lohan (another gifted beautiful lady) & Chris Pine. Lindsay plays a young & upcoming lady in a corporate world and everything is going her way. To the extent when she calls the word "taxi", 4 taxis could be stopping right in front of her at that second. On the other side of the city, a young guy is really at the bottom of the pit. Somehow, this 2 main characters' luck changes or you can say "switched" due to a kiss between the 2 of them in a masquerade party. Lindsay has to find her luck back by finding whom she kissed in that masquerade party (a party where people wear mask). And that guy, wow.........everything's going his way now. Very entertaining movie to kill boredom only.
End Game - starring Burt Reynolds, Cuba Gooding Jr & Angie Harmon. Cuba plays a personal bodyguard to the US President and was unable to prevent an unwanted assasination on the president. He just can't stomach the situation. A hardworking and nosey lady reporter found some leads and such leads were "terminated" the moment she talked to them. As she approaches Cuba, both were nearly killed too. This brought Cuba to search for clues which leads to more controversy as to who are the people behind the assasination. He can't trust many people as the Secret Service Dept was somehow involved. A suspense / thriller movie. Such scenarios could be real for the death of certain people in the political arena.
Thank You For Smoking - starring Aaron Eckhart & Maria Bello. Aaron was the lobbyist for a non-governmental organisation ("NGO") sponsored by major cigarette companies to counter negative statements or incidents that occured or linked to cigarettes. On the other side, a group of congressman was trying to label/brand cigarettes as poison. His concious/moral was tested when he was testifying on behalf of the NGO in a congressional hearing with his young son witnessing in the room too. A very good movie in view of current legislations being implemented worldwide to counter the cost of smoking.

Journey Back To Malaysia

Left Sudan on 12 Sept night via Emirates Airline. Had a 3 hrs transit at Dubai International Airport.
Took some photos to show how busy was Dubai airport at around 12.30am Dubai time on 13 Sept. On the contrast, at 12.30am in Kuala Lumpur International Airport, you could even hear a mosquitoe flying nearby (not joking). Reason? At that time, most shops would have closed down leaving a few only eatery joints opening. Dubai airport has about 150 airlines stopping at its airport meanwhile there are only 45 airlines dropping by at KL airport.

Quite a tiring journey as I departed Khartoum at 7.30pm, arrived Dubai at 12.10am, departed at 3.15am and arrived at KL at 2.30pm (respective time zones). Nevertheless, I'm happy to be back. Seeing greenery at last.

3 Questions

A young man who went overseas to study for quite a long time. When he returned, he asked his parents to find him a religious scholar or any expert who could answer his 3 Questions. Finally, his parents were able to find a scholar.

Young man: Who are you? Can you answer my questions?
Scholar: I am one of God willing, I will be able to answer your questions.
Young man: Are you sure? A lot of professors and experts were not able to answer my questions.
Scholar: I will try my best, with the help of God ...
Young Man: I have 3 questions: 1. Does God exist? If so, show me His shape. 2. What is fate? 3. If devil was created from the fire, why at the end he will be thrown to hell that is also created from fire. It certainly will not hurt him at all, since devil and the hell were created from fire. Did God not think of it this far?
Suddenly, the scholar slapped the young man's face very hard.
Young Man (feeling pain): Why do you get angry at me?
Scholar: I am not angry. The slap is my answer to your 3 Questions.
Young Man: I really don't understand.
Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you?
Young Man: Of course, I felt the pain.
Scholar: So do you believe that pain exists?
Young Man: Yes.
Scholar: Show me the shape of the pain!
Young Man: I cannot.
Scholar: That is my first answer. All of us feel God's existence without being able to see His shape... Last night, did you dream that you will be slapped by me?
Young Man: No.
Scholar: Did you ever think that you will get a slap from me, today?
Young Man: No.
Scholar: That is fate my second answer........ My hand that I used to slap you, what is it created from?
Young Man: It is created from flesh.
Scholar: How about your face, what is it created from?
Young Man: Flesh.
Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you?
Young Man: In pain.
Scholar: That's it... this is my third answer, even though devil and also the hell were created from the fire, if God wants, God willing , the hell will become a very painful place for devil.

Global Malaysians - South Africa

Many Malaysians have been successful in their adopted countries/current residential country be it in their occupations or business ventures.

Today we will go to the African continent where Mr. Wan Abdullah Wan Salleh has been residing in South Africa for the last 12 years (he hails from Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia). To earn a living, he has played for bands to being a cook in a catering company and also worked as a clearing agent in a trading business.

Mr. Wan Abdullah now owns a company called WGS Africa (established in 1994) which deals in semi-precious gemstone with his shop being located in Sandton, on the outskirt of Johannesburg. His shop makes beautiful decorative items out of polished and colourful gemstones. Mr. Wan Abdullah said his factory is one of only two in South Africa producing gemstone souvenirs; four other producers have since closed down. His company's monthly revenue is between Rand80,000 and Rand100,000 (RM33,000 and RM42,000).

Blogging Away???

Blogging is becoming a hit amongst net users. Bloggers blog about their personal life, interests, a particular topic, comments on world's happenings (like me) or venting on certain issues. According to Technorati, a blog is created every second at this moment.

But some bloggers blogged about their working lifes and were dooced due to those blogs. A blog, named Morpheme Tales, has been created recently highlighting bloggers that were dooced or almost.

Two write-ups (here and here) in the STAR newspaper also highlighted this today.

Sudan Man Forced To 'Marry' Goat

A Sudanese man has been forced to take a goat as his "wife", after he was caught having sex with the animal. The goat's owner, Mr Alifi, said he surprised the man with his goat and took him to a council of elders.
They ordered the man, Mr Tombe, to pay a dowry of 15,000 Sudanese dinars (US$50) to Mr Alifi. "We have given him the goat, and as far as we know they are still together," Mr Alifi said. Mr Alifi, Hai Malakal in Upper Nile State, told the Juba Post newspaper that he heard a loud noise around midnight on 13 February and immediately rushed outside to find Mr Tombe with his goat. "When I asked him: 'What are you doing there?', he fell off the back of the goat, so I captured and tied him up". Mr Alifi then called elders to decide how to deal with the case.

"They said I should not take him to the police, but rather let him pay a dowry for my goat because he used it as his wife," Mr Alifi told the newspaper. (extracted from BBC News)
