"SEPET" the Movie

If you could recall the local Malaysian movie production of "Sepet" relating to one Chinese boy going after the heart of one Malay girl. Seems that the famed producer, Yasmin Ahmad, didn't budge even though she was urged, both directly and indirectly, to stop messing about with our "culture" and start preserving it. Granted, the demands were made mostly by people of questionable intellectual agility. But one must be fair, mustn't one, and give all suggestions due consideration.

Yasmin, after giving a thought to it for 2 whole seconds laughed over it. Below is the multi-racial cast and crew members of Sepet:-
* Yasmin Ahmad: Indonesian + Japanese.
* Executive Producer, Rosnah Kassim: Malay + Chinese.
* 1st Assistant Director, Pete Abdullah: Chinese + Malay.
* Editor, Affandi Jamaludin: Malay + Indian.
* Producer, Rayyan Harris: Malay + Chinese + Portuguese + English.
* Production Assistant, Harris Zeka: Indonesian + Arab + Chinese.
* Production Assistant, Pipi: Malay + Chinese.
* Talent Coordinator, Zila: Indonesian + Chinese.
* Assistant Art Director, Jie Suria: Malay + Thai.
* Continuity, Hashim: Arab + Indonesian.
* Assistant Continuity, Aegi: Chinese + Malay.
* Props Assistant, Simon Langi: Iban.
* Make-up Artist, Hadthim Tai: Thai + Bengali + Malay.
* Wardrobe Stylist, Shahrom: Thai + Malay.
* Gaffer, Anuar Kingkong: Malay + Indian.
* Still Photographer, Adam Ariel Tunguia: Filipino + Kadazan + Chinese.
* The hero of the film members: Mohd Syafie Naswip: Malay + Arab.
* The heroine: Sharifah Aryana Syed Zainal Rashid: Bengali + Chinese + Arab + Malay.

And there you have it. Quite possibly the most racially impure production cast and crew you're ever likely to meet at any given film set or location.

Dr Jemilah Mahmood, founder and President of MERCY Malaysia, and to Yasmin's mind the greatest woman ever to walk on Malaysian soil, would proudly announce to anyone who cared to listen that she was born of a Malay father and a Chinese mother. A regular "Sepet" baby, you might say.

To me, this is MALAYISA, TRULY ASIA, the theme broadcasted by the Tourism Ministry's overseas' advertisement. And if you click at Sepet's website, just look at the credentials the movie has obtained.

The Love is Back... and Alive!

A lavish celebration at the 'Großer Stern', on 15 July 2006, has put the biggest open air party of electronic dance music back on the map. "The Love is Back"!

1,200,000 music lovers have facilitated a resounding Love Parade 2006 in Berlin, that's beyond all question!

Floats from 18 countries, 11 stages with a vast musical spectrum, party-people from around the world, Superstar-DJs in ecstasy – Love Parade fans danced non-stop on one of Berlin's most magnificant boulevards until the big final: peaceful, joyous, furious.
The final rally with performances from a top quality line-up of international DJs shall, as usual, take place at the Victory Column.
The Love Parade 2006, held annually, has once again confirmed the exceptional character of this celebration. It has a website on its own too: Love Parade 2006.

Actually I tried to put in more photos but somehow got stucked. The bigger size photos were taken by a friend of mine who is residing in Essen, Germany and I have a video clip right in the middle of crowd somewhere far back.

Final Destination 3 / She's The Man / Date Movie

Final Destination 3 – starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead & Ryan Merriman. Personally I would have preferred FD 2 more. Same basis where a girl could feel/sense that something would go wrong on a roller-coaster ride. A number of passengers got off after her berserk scary behaviour. The accident really did happened. Thereafter, those who got off the roller-coaster ride at the last minute were experiencing scary death one by one. The main actress with her close friend have to catch up with the people that left the ride due to her before death gets to them. Not a horror movie but eerie death.

She’s The Man – starring Amanda Bynes & Channing Tatum, a college girl’s soccer team was taken off the list of activities from the college. At the same time, the soccer team’s captain was to stand-in for her twin brother at another college (in case got thrown out due to non-attendance). The brother has to leave home to go to London for a concert.

With a similar hairstyle which matched her brother’s, nobody recognized the difference in them. She switched roles at her college, family activities and brother’s college. Her good soccer skills got her into her brother’s college team. A college beauty fell for “him” and “his” roommate wanted “him” to set up an appointment with the college beauty. And then came the soccer match between her college and her new team. And "he" fell in love for "his" room-mate.

Date Movie – starring Alyson Hannigan & Adam Campbell, a crazy comedy which involved duplication of other movies into it. It’s a comedy and you must have seen those duplicatd movies to understand the jokes. It’s about this lady who participated in a TV show and won a date with a handsome bachelor. They went through their courting time and got married later on after the bachelor managed to win the heart of the girl’s family.

Red Devils Kicked Out The Blues

Am glad to read such statement for my favourite club for last 24 years.

The Tourism Ministry of Malaysia together with 2 Malaysian companies, AirAsia (low cost carrier) and TV3 (private TV station) have signed an agreement with Man Utd to promote Malaysia's coming Visit Malaysia Year 2007 programme.

The Ministry has decided to switch from Chelsea to Man Utd and wants to ride on Man Utd's worldwide popularity to promote Malaysia and will be signing a sponsorship deal with the football club this month as Man Utd had offered a better deal.

Husband & Wife (II)

Same Service
A husband visited a marriage counselor and said, "When we were first married, I would come home from the office, my wife would bring my slippers and our cute little dog would run around barking. Now after ten years it's all different, I come home, the dog brings the slippers and my wife runs around barking." "Why complain?" said the counselor. "You're still getting the same service!"

Talk About Husband
One woman told another : "My neighbor is always speaking ill of her husband, but look at me, my husband is foolish, lazy and a coward; but have I ever said anything bad about him?"

To Do
A wife, one evening, drew her husband's attention to the couple next door and said, "Do you see that couple? How devoted they are? He kisses her every time they meet. Why don't you do that?" "I would love to." Replied the husband. "But I don't know her well enough."

No Answer Back
A man was telling his friends, "When my wife is infuriated, she starts shouting at me, my children and even at our dogs and nobody dares answer her." One of his friends asked." And when you are angry, what do you do?" The man replied, "I also shout angrily at the windows and doors of the house and none of them dares to answer back.

Come Home Late
A woman was complaining to the neighbor that her husband always came home late, no matter how she tried to stop him. "Take my advice," said the neighbor, "and do what I did. Once my husband came home at three o'clock in the morning, and from my bed I called out : "Is that you, Jim?" And that cured him. "Cured him !" asked the woman, "but how?" The neighbor said, "You see, his name is Bill."

Problem Father
"You looked troubled," I told my friend, "what's your problem?" He replied, "I'm going to be a father." "But that's wonderful," I said. "What's wonderful? My wife doesn't know about it yet.

Non-Kosher Goods And Services

UPDATE
No boycott:
The government has no intention to boycott goods from the United States and Britain to protest against their support for Israel's assault on Lebanon because the action can backfire on Malaysia, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

He said those who called for a boycott should think very deeply about it.

"We should not talk big and then have to backtrack when our action becomes a burden to us," he told reporters after performing the ground-breaking for the Universiti Darul Iman Malaysia (UDM) campus in Kampung Tembila here Monday. (source: Bernama)

Pak Lah has the last word. As for the others: KNOW HOW TO TALK BIG ONLY BUT NO ACTION!!!!

Husband & Wife

Why divorce?
In a divorce court a woman requested the judge: "Your honor, I want to divorce my husband." "But why ?" asked the judge. She replied, "Because he is not faithful to me."
The judge asked, "How do you know ?"
She replied, "My lord, not a single child resembles him."

Love Your Enemy
From his death bed, the husband called his wife and said, "One month after I die I want you to marry Samy."
"Samy...!!! But he is your enemy....!!!"
"Yes, I know that.....!!! I have suffered all these years so let him suffer now."

Wedding Ring
At the cocktail party, one woman said to another, "Aren't you wearing your wedding ring on the wrong finger?"
The other replied, "Yes I am, I married the wrong man."

Why?
"Dad, I was away for a week. Yesterday I sent a fax to my wife I'd be home that night, and when I got into my room I found my wife in another man's arms.
"Why, Dad ? Tell me why...!!!"
Dad kept silent for a few minutes, then coolly said, "Maybe, Son, she didn't get the fax."
