Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties - movie review

Garfied: A Tail of Two Kitties – starring Breckin Meyer, Jennifer Love Hewitt & Bill Murray. Need to get some humour while in Sudan so this show was just nice. An animated Garfied with Odie being a real life dog. Jon was on a trip to meet his long time girlfriend in another city to propose to her. Somehow, both Garfield and Odie got into his luggage and travelled along. Weird event happened where Garfield was mistaken (due to similar look to Garfield) to be a rich princess’ (who died and left a huge inheritance for the cat) cat. At the mansion, Garfield with his wisdom overcame a relative’s scheme that tried to kill the actual cat. The scheme has to succeed as he’s next in line for the will after the cat. You would be mad too if you knew that you ranked no. 2 after a cat in a will of a multi-millionaire.

Meantime, the real rich cat was found by Jon. Not to beat around the bush, the 3 of them ended up at the mansion too with Jon’s girlfriend being a guest at the mansion too. The evil scheme has to come to an end but how? Just laugh along. You need to as this will relieve you of some tensions built up in your work or daily routine.

Plane Crash on New York Building - 11/10??

No more 911 but 1110.
On Wednesday, a private airplane with 2 passengers crashed into the 30th and 31st floors of a condominium in Manhattan, New York. It triggered panic to many people as they thought of a repeat of another 911 incident. Casualties: so far only the 2 passengers onboard. 1 of them was Cory Lidle, the pitcher for the New York Yankees baseball team.

The aviation authorities was baffled/not clear as to how the plane managed to penetrate airspace over one of the most densely packed sections of New York City. (source: Associated Press)

Accountant, a Lawyer & a Cowboy

In the men's bathroom, an accountant, a lawyer and a cowboy were standing side-by-side using the urinal.

The accountant finished, zipped up and started washing and literally scrubbing his hands...clear up to his elbows....he used 20 paper towels before he finished. He turned to the other two men and commented, "I graduated from the University of Michigan and they taught us to be clean."

The lawyer finished, zipped up and quickly wet the tips of his fingers, grabbed one paper towel and commented, "I graduated from the University of California and they taught us to be environmentally conscious."

The cowboy zipped up and as he was walking out the door said, "I graduated from Texas Tech University and they taught us not to piss on our hands.

Chinese Names

Caller: Hello, can I speak to Annie Wan (anyone)?
Operator: Yes, you can speak to me.
Caller: No, I want to speak to Annie Wan!
Operator: You are talking to someone! Who is this?
Caller: I'm Sam Wan (someone) and I need to talk to Annie Wan! It is urgent.
Operator: I know you are someone and you want to talk to anyone, but what is this urgent matter about?
Caller: @#$... just tell my sister Annie Wan that our brother Noel Wan (no one) was involved in an accident. Noel Wan got injured and now Noel Wan is being sent to the hospital. Right now, Avery Wan (everyone) is on his way to the hospital.
Operator: Look, if no one was injured and no one was sent to the hospital, then the accident isn't an urgent matter! You may find this hilarious but I don't have time for this!
Caller: You are so rude! What is your name?
Operator: I am Saw Lee (sorry)!
Caller: Yes! You should be sorry. Now give me your name!!!

ASLI Retracts Its Findings

With reference to my earlier blog on 9 Oct, Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI) has retracted its findings. ASLI president, Mirzan Mahathir, had said that on re-examining the methodology and conclusions of the report, "ASLI has concluded that there are shortcomings in assumption and calculation that led to conclusions that cannot be vigorously justified."

As a result of ASLI's action, Centre for Public Policy Studies's Director, Dr. Lim Teck Ghee has resigned on his own accord. Dr Lim was a former UN regional advisor and World Bank Senior Political Scientist. He is also a recipient of international academic awards.

In his resignation statement, Dr. Lim says, as Director of the CPPS, he takes full responsibility, and stands by the findings of the study and the other studies that were submitted in a comprehensive report to the Government on the 9th Malaysia Plan in February 2006. However, Dr Lim adds that since he cannot agree with Mirzan's statement, and because of the need to defend the position and integrity of independent and non-partisan scholarship, he will be stepping down from his position as Director at the end of October.

Mobile Number Portability (MNP)

Energy, Water and Communications Minister Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik has SHOT DOWN (thought it was sensitive to use this 2 words lately) any suggestion of a tender to appoint a central clearing house operator, a lucrative job, for the implementation of Mobile Number Portability (MNP).

“There will be no tender. There will be only one company,” he told reporters after delivering the keynote address at the seminar. Lim did not identify the company but when asked, he said: “Wait.” Dr Lim had said one company, Talian Gerak Alih Sdn Bhd, had presented its plans to him and that he was impressed with it because of its US-based technology partner, Telcordia Technologies Inc.

A clearing house operator is required to manage the database of all mobile subscribers and re-route all calls and data traffic for a fee that will charged to the telcos up to a rate of RM0.001 per re-routing.

BUT WHY NO TENDER? Talian Gerak Alih Sdn Bhd is reportedly owned by Sinar Aturan Sdn Bhd, which in turn is 70% owned by Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail (the son of the current King of Malaysia). A La Trobe University, Australia graduate too.

FYI, Singapore has it since 1997.
