The world's most well-known professional gamer is Johnathan Wendel, 25, who has amassed more than US$1,000,000 of prize money from professional competitions throughout the world, especially in the Cyberathlete Professional League. Ain't it a good career. He practises his games 8 hours daily, just like any normal white collar workers' working hours too.
Wendel has been a successful competitor in several first-person shooter games. He debuted as a professional gamer in October 1999 by placing 3rd in the Quake III Arena tournament at the CPL's FRAG 3 event. Although he has played with top Counter-Strike and Call of Duty teams, most of his successes have been with one-versus-one deathmatch games including Quake III Arena, Unreal Tournament 2003, and Painkiller.

Poseidon - movie review
Poseidon – starring Josh Lucas, Kurt Russell & Richard Dreyfuss. This Poseidon was set for sailing to celebrate the New Year’s eve party. Movie began with party goers at the main ballroom catered mainly for adults. Younger generation would be found at the disco avenue. Not long into the movie, a “seldom occur” type of wave hit the big ship and it turned upside down. Our heroes/heroines took big steps to look for the exit. While almost all of the party goers stayed put.
One of the brave ones had to look for his daughter at the disco spot and found her safe with her boyfriend, who had just proposed to her. With that, their journey to safety throughout was definitely filled with suspense and full of thriller. I was sitting at the edge of my chair, with my legs on the table, worrying for them each occasion. As everything was upside down, lots of blockages and leakages became their obstacles. The ship was sinking fast at the same time and time was not to their advantage. Even the group of heroes/heroines was not spared their lifes. This is one of the top movies I have seen in terms of its suspense. FYI, this movie had the services of 2 main stunt co-ordinators and 65 stuntmen/women. Just imagined what was acted out.

The Price of Growing Old
DURING a check-up, the doctor tells a couple that they’re physically okay, but they might want to start writing things down to help them remember. Later that night, while watching TV, the old man gets up from his chair.
“Want anything while I’m in the kitchen?” he asks.
“Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?”
“Sure.”
“Don’t you think you should write it down so you can remember it?” his wife asks.
“No, I can remember that.”
“Well, I’d like some strawberries on top, too. Maybe you should write it down, so as not to forget.”
“I can remember – you want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries.”
“I’d also like whipped cream. I’m certain you’ll forget that. Want to write it down?”
Irritated, he says, “I don’t need to write it down. Ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream - I got it, for goodness sake!”
Then he toddles to the kitchen. After about 20 minutes, he returns and hands his wife a plate of bacon and eggs.
She stares at the plate for a moment, then asks, “Where’s my toast?”

Public Utilities in Sudan
On Wednesday here in Khartoum, after having the breaking fast dinner with my malay colleagues, it just surprised me that the water was not coming from the tap in the kitchen. We just left the plates there. Normally will sit down to chit chat while the food digest in my stomach.
Went to my room to listen to some music and then proceeded to my daily devotion. Therafter, a played a movie entitled Poseidon to pass time. And went to sleep with just 4 full 1 litre mineral bottles to clean up. Next morning, still no water!!!! Use another 3 bottles to wash up & brush teeth. Plenty of bottles in my toilet.
So, on Thursday, after a quick dinner, went for my nice bath to clean up 2 days of dirt ...... hahaha. That's not all. Thursday night - a night without electricity. But thank God that our house has an ever ready generator to start up the house electricity again. In Sudan, it's a necessity to have a generator for every house and office. And we must be fully stock up with enough diesel to run the generator too for as long as there is no electricity. Otherwise, back to square one.

Begging Monks Are Conmen
Beware of 'monks' who beg for money at any time of the day – they are conmen out to fleece the public. Penang Thai Buddhist Temple Chief Monk Reverend Phra Khru Panyasasananurak said local monks are not allowed to beg for money.
Monks are only allowed to beg for food and not cash. Genuine monks in Penang do not go out to beg for alms as the temples they are attached to see to all their needs. So, next time you see a monk begging for money, you don't need to give as the money given would be used for other purposes instead of what you were thinking about. (source: 13 Oct, Star)

Stick It - movie review
Stick It – starring Missy Peregrym, Vanessa Lengies & Jeff Bridges. A notorious/rebellious teenager lady was again impeded for her unwarranted behaviour. In the court, she was sentenced to a strict gymnastic academy. It seems that she was a former national gymnast but her character got the better of herself. Initially, she thought her assigned coach was purposely tough on her due to her background. Her team mates didn’t look up to her as her attitude was always pissing people off. As time passed by, she put efforts into her training and was chosen to represent her academy in a competition. A team mate who didn’t like her sabotaged her strategy and got 2 other team mates to go against her. Devastated, she left the competition.
Few years ago, she was remembered as the gymnast who ditched her performance that caused the national team to lose their medal hopes. Subsequently, at another national championship, she found friends due to her strong stand against the panel of judges who were not consistent with their method of awarding points. All the competitors bonded together and I had a good laugh at the judges’ reactions. Though the movie was without any big stars, it’s still worth your time. It showed us determination can get us anywhere and a failure is not a loser until he/she gives up totally.

The Price of Growing Old
AN elderly couple had dinner at another couple’s house. After the meal, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen. One of the men turned to his friend and said: “Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great. I would recommend it very highly.”
“What is the name of the restaurant?”
The man thought hard and finally said: “What is the name of that flower you give to someone you love? You know ... the one that’s red and has thorns.”
“Do you mean a rose?”
“Yes, that’s the one.” He then turned towards the kitchen and yelled, “Rose dear, what’s the name of that restaurant we went to last night?”
