Sadly to say, just 4 days into the Visit Malaysia Year 2007, complaints were there from tourists on the much awaited tourist bus that will bring tourists round Kuala Lumpur as stated in The Star newspaper. And some of the tourists literally waited for the bus as it was not punctual.
The Hop On-Hop Off has its own website too. When I click on other pages, for example Services, it took a few minutes to download. At this technology age, few minutes?????

When I intend to find out more on the Ticket, it has no response at all. So I went on to click Contact. Straight away, I wanted to write to them to comment on this few issues. When I started typing, the font in the Message box was so small and I'm very sure that many people will not be able to see what they were typing. Maybe it's a way to discourage people from commenting (esp. the negative ones, the lesser the better).

After finishing what I wanted to say, I clicked Submit............my my my.... can't work either. So I pasted the whole thing onto the email and emailed to them and said "Don't disappoint me by having this email rejected". Let's see how long they take to respond (still giving them a benefit of doubt with pun intended).

Apparently, this hop on hop off stuff is not new and it's being practiced at many major cities around the world - New York City / London / Paris / Dublin / Toronto / Turks & Caicos Islands / Sydney / Oslo / Vienna / Bangalore. Singapore and Dubai have this services for quite some time back also and all this countries have this services throughout the year and not wait for a particular year to have it.

Visitation at the Desert Villages

This is rattan materials being used to make a house or certain part of a house.

We were invited to go into one of the villagers' house. As you can see, they used the rattan to block the sunlight from shining into their small clay house.

The ceiling is mainly rattan and on top of the rattan is solid clay. Only 2 beds for a family of 6.

These are some of the clay brick being left to dry before laying it to build a house.

I tried to break with a karate chop and my hand almost came off. It's real hard.

My friend gave a thumb's up to the wall structure. It's clay too with some sticks in between. Quite solid but with one strong push, the wall could actually tumble down.

One house being constructed in this village (with clay bricks).

The madam of the house was serving us sweets and 1 of my colleague was surprised to see a Cadbury sweet there. Our ma'am said that she brought it to them when she visited her few months back.

Sheltering away from the heat.

Not really that hot as cool wind was still blowing softly.

Our ma'am with her close friends now. The madam of the house has a family of daugthers and if not mistaken, 2 of them were working faraway from whom. But not as far as we all guys/1 ma'am from our home in Malaysia.

Quite a well kept village.

Mode of transport within the village area. Natural air-cond for everybody.

We were heading to the hills after visiting the villages.
If this hill exist in Malaysia, it would be gone as quarry operations would be there to make quick money at the expense of the environment/nature.

More pictures on the surrounding of the hills as we get nearer ...............

A Happy New Year

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."Romans 10:13

Last few days, people everywhere were gathered together to celebrate the first bright moments of the New Year. Yet, for thousands of others, that day mayl be the toughest 24 hours of their lives. For those people, New Year's will serve only as a dim reminder of loneliness and loss. It will simply mark the beginning of another year of failure.

What about you? What's this year really going to be like for you? You may appear to be happy enough. You may be passing out seasonal smiles and holiday greetings just like everybody else. But inside, you may hurt. You may be disappointed. You may even feel like you can't go on. If so, I want you to know something. All of that can change in an instant. You can start your life over today and make this New Year's Day the most joyful day of your life! How many times have you said to yourself, "If I could just start over, I'd do it all differently"?

That doesn't have to be simply an idle wish. Jesus Christ has actually made it possible. That's His Christmas present to you. He paid the price for all your sins. He paid the penalty for all your mistakes. That's the reason He came to earth. That's the reason He was born - so you could start over!

You may look at your life and say, "But I've made some terrible mistakes. I've done some despicable things." That doesn't matter. Jesus paid the price for them all! How can you make a new start? Romans 10:9 says that "if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." It's as easy as saying, "Jesus, I'm turning my life over to You. From this day forward I'm Yours."
What better time to turn your life around than on this first day of the New Year. Right now, wherever you are, just give your life to Jesus. Then jump up and down and holler, "Praise God, I'm starting all over!" And find out what it really means to have a Happy New Year!

Diary of a Young Wife

Monday :
Now home from honeymoon and settled in our new home. It's fun to cook for Tim. Today I made an angel food cake and the recipe said, "beat 12 eggs separately." Well, I didn't have enough bowls to do that, so I had to borrow 12 bowls to beat the eggs in. The cake turned out fine though.

Tuesday:
We wanted a fruit salad for supper. The recipe said, "serve without dressing." So I didn't dress. But Tim happened to bring a friend home for supper that night. They both looked so startled when I served them, I think it was the salad.

Wednesday:
I decided to serve rice and found a recipe which said, "wash thoroughly before steaming the rice." So I heated some water and took a bath before steaming the rice. Sounded kinda silly in the middle of the day. I can't say it improved the rice anyhow.

Thursday:
Today Tim asked for salad again. I tried a new recipe. It said, prepare ingredients, then toss on a bed of lettuce one hour before serving." I hunted all over the place for a garden and when I got one, I tossed my salad into the bed of lettuce and stood over there for over one hour so the dog would not take it. Tim came over and asked if I felt all right. I wonder why? He must be stressed at work, I'll try to be supportive.

Friday:
Today I found an easy recipe for cookies. It said, "put all ingredients in a bowl and beat it." Beat it I did,to my mum's place. There must have been something wrong with the recipe, because when I came back home again, it looked the same as when I left it.

Saturday:
Tim went shopping today and brought home a chicken. He asked me to dress it for Sunday. I'm sure I don't know how hens dress for Sunday. I never noticed back on the farm, but I found an old doll dress and it's little cute shoes. I thought the hen looked really cute. When Tim saw it, he started counting to ten. Either he was really stressed because of his work, or he wanted the chicken to dance. When I asked him what was wrong he started crying and shouting out "why me? why me ?" Hmmm....It must be his job.

Exiled / I Not Stupid Too - movie review

Exiled - starring Nick Cheung, Roy Cheung, Josie Ho, Lam Suet, Francis Ng, Cheung Siu Fai, Simon Yam, Anthony Wong & Richie Ren. With this set of cast members, I wouldn't have let this movie out of my grasp especially with Johnnie To as the director. 5 members of a gang up, after overcoming their differences, to undertake one last crime assignment together.

They were supposed to be hired killers to finish off a particular guy. So happened, another gang, led by Simon Yam, turned up and turned the tables of 5 of them. One was badly hurt and they were hunted down. Sadly, this injured gang member passed away and left behind his wife/child.

While trying to escape, they bumped into a security van transporting gold bars where they helped the head security to ward off a planned hijack. In the end, together with the head security, they took off together with equal shares in it with tens of millions each. Apparently, Simon Yam's has taken their dead member's wife/child as hostage. With loyalty in their hearts, they went to bail the wife/child out with their share of gold bars. Simon Yam was totally wiped off the face of this earth in a gun battle with the remaining 4 gang members unable to escape the death trap too.

Not much of a story to follow but it just point to loyalty/friendship towards a dead gang member and due to too much killings, this movie was banned in Malaysia. A Cantonese version.

I Not Stupid Too 2 - starring Xiang Yun, Richard Low, Selena Tan, Jack Neo. A solid good Singapore production which is maturing day to day. If you want a solid laugh with good/original jokes/humour, this is the movie but it's in Mandarin.

About how students in a secondary/high school behaves. The movie showed the respective students' home life and how it affected their behaviours in school. How 2 brothers who neglected by their busy business-minded dad and their dragon-like mom who scolded without giving them a chance to explain. It also showed the life of another student, who has a dad who would beat him even for a small mistake.

It went to the length of highlighting a teacher's weakness in conducting his class which eventually led him to be ridiculed by the public. Though quite emotionally, the in-betweens have tremendous good laughs.

Beer Spa

I have been blogging about Spa resort centres in Malaysia on 6 Nov 06 and 2 Dec 06. Such wellness lifestyle in Malaysia is getting more prominent. But another kind of spa lifestyle is found in Czech Republic and also mushrooming in Austria (Landhotel Moorhof) and Germany (Kummeroer Hof). It's called the Spa Beer.

It was believed that a Spa Beer opened up by the Chodovar Brewery in Chodova Plana is the world's first Spa Beer where every sense is enveloped in beer; the bubbly sticky liquid on your skin, the hops in the air, to the beer in your mug.

You can also try the brewski facial: an über gooey face mask made from ground hops, malt, honey and cream cheese. These half hour bath treatments start at about US$55. The guests are charged US$150 pounds for weekend packages, and can indulge in a range of health treatments including beer wraps. Beer is believed to have many positive effects on the skin and skin conditions. Maybe the men, upon hearing the word beer, may change their mind on spas. Imagine you can swim in a pool of beer.(source: Zee News, Realbeer & World Leisure News)
