This time it's the Zee Cine Awards 2007 that was held on 2 April 2007 in Genting Highlands.

Internet Cafe in Shanghai

Received the following photos via email on the opening of a new internet cafe in Shanghai of China. I thought it was a franchised playboy cafe.If you noticed (not the young girls), each customer is accompanied by a hostess dressed in red. You could see that the customers are playing some games BUT the mouse is being held by the hostess. I do frequent internet cafe in Kuala Lumpur but definitely I'll be the one holding that mouse as I want to feel the game's impulse and tenacity.Ok, there's a guy in yellow shirt having control of his game. But really wonder where would you put your hands when your mouse is being controlled by the hostess. The way that they are dressed are just inviting even non-gamers to go in for some cheap fun (you know what I mean) and those hostess are real young. What's the main purpose of the hostess there? Is this really in Shanghai?

Nollywood

Hollywood is at Los Angeles, USA where the highest acclaimed movies award would be the Academy Awards.

Bollywood is generally referred to India's numerous movies being produced annually. It's annual movies award would be the GIFA Awards (which was hosted by Malaysia last year)

Nollywood is the name given for the African Film Festival or Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) where it was held at Burkina Faso recently. A Nigerian movie entitled Ezra, directed by Newton Aduaka, has won the top award. It's a story about a seven-year old boy kidnapped by rebels and forced to fight in a civil war. Though no location is ever specified in the film, the story is based on the war that began in Sierra Leone in the early nineties.

Cameroonian filmmaker Jean-Pierre Bekolo won the Silver Stallion, or second place, for his film Les Saignantes, an erotic story set in the future of two women who try to win politicians' favor with their beauty.

Chad's Mahamat-Saleh Haroun won Bronze Stallion for his film Daratt in which a young man tries to find and kill the man who murdered his father. (source: Chosun Ilbo and BBC News)

Don't Look Back

Want to be part of a theatre performance in Kuala Lumpur?

If yes, you can drop at the former Majestic Hotel at Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin everyday from 8pm to 10pm. The theatre performance is directed by Tristan Sharps who has put up this performance in Brighton & London (England), Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Moscow (Russia). Next venue will be Australia and Romania. The production is called "Don't Look Back" and will end by 11 Feb 2007. Awwwwww.... I'm going to miss it as I'll be back at KL only on 14 Feb.

You'll be guided into the building where a group of 3 persons will enter with half hour interval before the next 3 enters. You'll meet a character who'll interact with you. This character is played by local theatre actor Thor Kah Hoong. The production is loosely based on the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.
The 3 persons will have to go through the production on their own, going into different rooms & corridors to see the happenings. Various sounds, images, slideshows and also live actors will try to picture the story to you. So keep your eyes opened throughout the journey.

The director of the production stated that "the audience will feel that they’re watching something happening and then suddenly realise that they themselves are a part of the story and art is “happening” around them." Moving forward is the right cue when you are in the building as timing is of the essence here. As with the story of the Greek myth, it was told not to look back. Wonder what is at the back of you since they told you not to look back.....hehehe.

Interesting? New way of telling a story to you with you being part of it. Interaction in this production is very important. This production is presented by British Council in cooperation with Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (Aswara) and the Culture, Arts and Heritage Ministry. (source: The Star)

Haunted Restaurant

Believe It Or Not!

Wizard World Theatre Restaurant at Sungei Wang Plaza is haunted. Something different here as customers can have their meals there and drop in at the 4D haunted adventure portion of the place to experience frightening moments. Hopefully they don't vomit. There are 3 different types of 'scare' level - the Gory, Scary, Not Scary Tour. You decide how much you want to be frightened.

The restaurant is owned by Believe It or Not Sdn Bhd, the operator of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! and Haunted Adventure in Genting Highlands as well. To display a gory place, the restaurant has Gothic-styled lights, tables with claws and rivets, eerily painted walls.

Special drinks are concocted with eerie names like Beautiful Spell, Handsome Spell and Incredible Spell. (source: The Star)

The Apprentice - Malaysia's Version

I'm sure many of you have heard of "The Apprentice" where Donald Trump sits at the
table with 2 of his assistants firing young guys/girls out of the reality show.

Malaysia will be having their own version called "The Firm".
Malaysia will just follow any good shows for instance out of Wheel of Fortune, came Roda Impian, American Idol gave birth to Malaysian Idol and was it Who Wants To Be A Millionaire .........

Words are being passed around town, yeah it even reach the Sudanese desert as well, looking for participants. The reality show will be shown on NTV7 eventually and 10 guys/girls at ages from 21 to 35 could go for an interview. You are lucky that you got this message in my blog. Because if I was in that age group, I would have kept this info for myself. Lesser participants, more chances of winning. I'm stingy? Greedy? No, the show has begun even before the start of the real one....... mua hahahaha. Since, I would have passed that last age of 35 by just few days on the closing date, I'm letting this cat out of the bag for you guys/girls to have a go at it. Remember, to post a thank you message here if you were selected after reading this info.

Apparently, the CEO for the show has not been found yet. The secret CEO will be like Donald Trump, thrashing the participants. Actually I could suggest people who are good in thrashing human beings but they are not CEO qualities lah.

Prizes? Oh yes! Heard that there are cash prizes, maybe even a car (lots of difference between a local car or a non-local car) and a job opportunity in that secret CEO's office and more prizes being worked out. The secret CEO could be even your current CEO.

Visit NTV7 website to obtain more info and the application form. The closing date for application is 26 January 2007.

Together with Universal Parks and Resorts as a non-equity partner, Genting group emerged as the winner with its S$5.2 billion project, Resorts World at Sentosa because it submitted the most compelling proposal, overall, that best meets our economic and tourism objectives. The Design Architect for Resorts World is Michael Graves. (source: AsiaOne)

Shakira & Ricky Martin

Looks like Shakira did quite well in the recent Latin Grammy Awards. Shakira dominated the Latin Grammy Awards as she won five trophies, including album of the year for "Fijacion Oral Vol. 1", song and record of the year honors for "La Tortura", the best female pop vocal album and the best engineered album.
Her smoldering duet with Alejandro Sanz, on Thursday night stole the spotlight at the event - gyrating her way through a rendition of "La Tortura".

Thursday's show was broadcasted by Univision (Latin website) television for the second straight year. Musicians from Puerto Rico earned 33 Latin Grammy nominations, including all the nominations for best urban music album and best salsa album.

As for Ricky Martin, he was accorded the 2006 Latin Recording Academy Person Of The Year Tribute in honour of his accomplishments as a world-renowned entertainer, consummate performer and passionate humanitarian. I did blog about Ricky Martin in an earlier blog of mine here.
