On Wednesday evening, my Khartoum office organised a dinner (breaking fast for the muslims & known as iftar in arabic) in view of the Ramadan month. Invited quite a number of guests. The dinner was to be held on a boat that will cruise the Nile river.
Managed to capture the sunlight beaming through the cloud. This is the boat that we are supposed to board. 2 boats were tied together to create more space. Initially, the 2 boats didn't move in tandem while leaving the so-called jetty. The river we are on is the Blue Nile river. It will join up with the White Nile further downstream that will flow all the through Egypt up in the north into the Mediterranean Sea.
Supposedly to be blue but it's like Brown Nile to me.
I'm the one in black t-shirt on the left. We were there earlier so we took our place under the open spaced section of the boat. For better ventilation purpose.
Not that we are restricting people on our part of the boat. Somehow, the locals do gather amongst themselves first. This picture was taken before the full attendance. And I mean really full.
One of the local delicacy is "foul" pronounced more as fool. No!, you won't become a fool after gulping it down your throat. Not much of taste but the locals do like it. Only took a tiny weeny portion of it.
A local group of singers was employed to render out arabic songs. They were seated together with my colleagues but we didn't know the were the singers until they stood up there. Communication breakdown ...... you see, we no speaking arabic.
A picture taken at night, on up & coming high class hotel. A hotel reputedly to be owned by the Libya's President's son. Still under construction.

Fashion House Mobile Phones
Mobile manufacturers and couture houses have muscled itself into the fashion turf with a line of phones. Samsung has gone fishing further upmarket lately.
It recently announced its AX Armani Exchange Ultra Edition 6.9 for the Singapore market (only 1,000 units available). The company has not announced plans to release this limited-edition mobile in other countries. It will retail for US$342.28 (US$145.06 with contract).
Samsung announced that the Limited Edition cK Calvin Klein Ultra Edition 12.9 handset, will be sold exclusively through mobile operator M1 in Singapore. Those planning to get their hands on this limited Samsung slider should know that there will be only 1,000 units available on offer on Singapore's shores. This edition of the Samsung handset will retail for US$469.53 (US$297.75 with contract). The Korean phone maker currently has no plans to release this phone anywhere else in the world.
Of course, Motorola's been there, done that with its RAZR V3i D&G Special Edition Gold and, ever the style leader, has moved on to a more indelible fashion statement--tattoing the RAZR (linked to the Miami Ink TV series).

Something To Smile About
Sometimes a classified ad is just not the right way to go!
These four classified ads appeared in a Kuwaiti newspaper on four consecutive days. The last three hopelessly trying to correct the first day's mistake.
MONDAY:
For Sale
SK Shah has a sewing machine for sale.
Phone 2555-0707 after 7PM and ask for Mrs Mani who lives with him cheap.
TUESDAY:
Notice:
We regret having erred in SK Shah's ad yesterday.
It should have read, "One sewing machine for sale cheap. Phone 2555-0707 and ask for Mrs
Mani, who lives with him after 7PM."
WEDNESDAY:
Notice:
SK Shah has informed us that he has received several annoying telephone calls because of the error we made in the classified ad yesterday.
The ad stands correct as follows:
"For sale - SK Shah has a sewing machine for sale. Cheap. Phone 2555-0707 after 7PM and
ask for Mrs Mani who loves with him."
THURSDAY:
Notice:
I, SK Shah, have no sewing machine for sale. I smashed it.
Don't call 2555-0707 as I have had the phone disconnected.
I have not been carrying on with Mrs Mani.
Until yesterday, she was my housekeeper but she quit.

Nightmare: Face Your Fear
After sold-out engagements in 2004 and 2005, New York's favorite haunted house, Nightmare: Face Your Fear, is back with an all new edition. Presented by Psycho Clan, this sensational fright-fest, created and directed by downtown fearmeister Timothy Haskell, is poised to become the largest haunted event on the East Coast.
Nightmare combines urban horror with a visceral interactive theatricality to guarantee a unique and psychologically terrifying experience. Expect a chilling room-by-room encounter with the obsessions, anxieties and phobias that frighten New Yorkers most. Nightmare makes visitors the stars of their own horror story, in a house that knows their worst fear -- and forces them to face it as reported in Associated Press. Try their interactive website.

Choosing Running Shoes
Thought of starting your jogging exercise? Great features and design, the latest, top of the range ….. but it can hurt me (without me realizing it).
Time and again, in the course of our clinical practice, we have noticed that many of our patients were willing to spend good money on running shoes but were wasting that money on shoes which were either not suited to them or caused them aches, pains or injuries. As runners ourselves, this saddened us as we know that some of these pains and injuries could have easily been avoided or alleviated if they just knew how to choose the right shoes for themselves.
The On-Track Shoe Review incorporated a platform for getting runners to become aware of what kind of feet they have (surprised that you may have a particular type of feet?) and therefore help them make a better informed choice of their shoes without having to pay the price of aches, pain or injury, down the road. Try it out!

A MUST Watch Video! This Father does it all just for the purpose of seeing the smile on his son's face. If you want to see the most profound reflection of the Father's love for us that you've ever seen ... watch. Time taken to watch this is the best time you've ever spent on email. Read this and then watch the video (the website link is at the end).
85 times he's pushed his disabled son, Rick, 26.2 miles in marathons. Eight times he's not only pushed him 26.2 miles in a wheelchair but also towed him 2.4 miles in a dinghy while swimming and pedaled him 112 miles in a seat on the handlebars — all in the same day. Dick's also pulled him cross-country skiing, taken him on his back mountain climbing and once hauled him across the U.S. on a bike.
Rigged up with a computer that allowed him to control the cursor by touching a switch with the side of his head, Rick was finally able to communicate. First words? "Go Bruins!" And after a high school classmate was paralyzed in an accident and the school organized a charity run for him, Rick pecked out, "Dad, I want to do that."
That day changed Rick's life. "Dad," he typed, "when we were running, it felt like I wasn't disabled anymore!" And that sentence changed Dick's life. He became obsessed with giving Rick that feeling as often as he could. He got into such hard-belly shape that he and Rick were ready to try the 1979 Boston Marathon.
They've done 212 triathlons, including four grueling 15-hour Ironmans in Hawaii. It must be a buzzkill to be a 25-year-old stud getting passed by an old guy towing a grown man in a dinghy, don't you think? This year, at ages 65 and 43, Dick and Rick finished their 24th Boston Marathon, in 5,083rd place out of more than 20,000 starters. Their best time? Two hours, 40 minutes in 1992 — only 35 minutes off the world record, which, in case you don't keep track of these things, happens to be held by a guy who was not pushing another man in a wheelchair at the time.
