Nuffnang Wild 'Live' Blogging Party
Robb Chew of Nuffnang was so busy running around getting things in order for the night. Bravo Robb!
The event was sponsored by Maxis Broadband.
Maxis Broadband provided laptops and connections for bloggers to blog live from the venue of the event. Some bloggers were going at it.
The bar counter where it served soft drinks / beer throughout the night but ran out of soft drinks towards the end of the function.
Was called to take a family photo with my extended 'family members'. Kimberly asked how come I look different from the three of them. Told her I was a male cow. So, don't tempt me with their presence.
Can't recall Wee Lim's (next to me) blog name. The person next to him was Nicholas wherelse the person of the far right, Christopher Tock, won the best costume award for the night. He made our clan proud!!!! (picture stolen from Shaolin Tiger)
Nuffnang should have organised an original animal costume. Simon Seow came with two planks depicting a horse face (front portion) and a horse backside (back portion of course) with a tail hanging down his pants. Very original.
Mine was of course trying to emulate a cow. I was still trying to get those black sugar paper (as cow's black spots) to stick on my white T-shirt and beige pants at 5.30pm Saturday afternoon with by using double-sided tape and staplers to ensure it stick through the night. (picture stolen from Simon Seow)
David Cheong, we are each other's frequent blog traveller.
Joshua Ong the Lion, one of those guys that I have been chatting with albeit virtually all this while.
Chubby Penguin the Bunny flew all the way back from Moscow on the same day just to attend the function. So, happened back for summer holidays.
She's doing medicine there.
Shad the Elephant was the real cool dude. When he drinks or eat, he needs to lift up his trunk .... haha. Really like your outfit beb. He was nominated as the top 3 best costume nuffnangers.
Kue was there as well and she was there with her sis.
Skyler the Leopard was there too. Long sleeve? I thought it was stuffy in Modesto's.
Vivien the Bee was the first person that saw one of my cow's black spot falling off. She brought along her friend, Iris the Bunny, to the party.
As a reward for locating my spot, I allowed them to pose with me.
Timothy Tiah the King of the Jungle (aka Boss Stewie), one of the co-founder of Nuffnang. Great work in getting the function to this stage.
Wow, this guy is really superb. He came as a a a a ...... what's your costume Liang? Anyway he was our emcee and a marvellous one indeed. Gifted emcee.
He's Kevin Chan the Cat.
Michelle the Bunny successfully made it to the venue as she did tell me that she was not familiar with Sri Hartamas area.
Yee Ming the Monkey. Another up and coming doctor in Malaysia.
These two beautiful ladies (Germaine and Jessica) were greeters as we enter the venue. They handed out goodies' bags to partygoers. Who hired them? Nuffnang? Maxis?
Su Ann the Ladybird. She was the top 3 nominees for best costume. You did that headgear on your own?
Kimberly the Batgirl. Noticed that she was not wearing that headgear towards the end of the function.
Kelli Goh the Bunny. We didn't get to chat much. We'll catch up another time then.
Hanis Zalikha the Moth.
If you follow the Malaysian Dreamgirl online reality series, she was one of them.
Pamsong the Catwoman came in her elegant self.
Kelly Tan with her orange Butterfly.
She has to walk sideways like a crab at certain areas as her wingspan was too wide..... LOL! In fact, all the butterflies walked like that in the party.
All the 'animals' enjoying the games organised by the emcee.
Liang asked for Bunnies to appear to play a game where winners received 2 complimentary cinema tickets.
Then came the Bees' turn.
Then the Leopards' turn.
Then the Gorillas' turn.
Then the Zebras, the Butterflies, the Tigers ..........
Liang, why didn't you call the Cows?????
Hwei Ming gave the excuse of being the cameraman for the night, therefore no animal costume.
Samantha the Bunny with superbly big ears.
Adeline Lee the Zebra too???? Another one of the Malaysian Dreamgirl contestant.
Asked her how come you are so tall ...... "I'm wearing high heels today". I thought I shrunk.
The Shaolin Tiger that is without his skin.
Caryn Leong the Zebra. Or was it a white tiger in the first place. Another budding doctor-to-be.
The other Ladybird by the name of Min Li.
Arif in traditional costume that comes with a bow tie. In actual fact, he didn't get to finish his intended costume.
Ringo the Lioness. One of the three Malaysian Dreamgirl contestants that were at the function.
Aronil the Butterfly. A good source in obtaining drama / stage acting info from her. Thanks for that.

Nuffnang Wild Live Blogging
Supposedly an animal theme party which means to say that I'm supposed to be going into the function dressed in either an animal costume (as blogged earlier) or in simple dressing i.e. plain T-shirt with animal pictures ................ last thing I want to do so. Still cracking my head on what to wear.
During the function, Maxis Broadband will be providing laptops and connections for bloggers to blog 'live' and real time at the function. If we bring our own laptop, we get to do it even quicker. Nah, I won't bring mine as it will retrict your freedom in roaming around. I will line up to use those provided by Maxis and that too, I have to bring along a USB cable.
At this second on the clock, Croatia scored their goal against Turkey. So tiring in watching this dull game.
Guess what ......................... the dull game became alive in 60 seconds. Turkey has drawn level. The score is 1-1 at the last minute of the extra time. Now I have to sit through the pulsating penalty kicks.

Don't Worry, I Can Do It
When he asked the locals to do their work, their standard reply is always "Don't worry, I can do it" or "No problem, will do it accordingly". Similar kind of response at your workplace too?
One fine day, he went to the project site and he almost had an instant heart attack seeing the end result of a construction work.
How in the world that they can build a staircase that has no links from the ground floor up to the second floor just like what you see in the attached picture?
After some investigations, he found out that two teams did the work at the same. One team began from the upper floor and another team started from the bottom.
This is a pure case of lack of communication even though they were working on the same side of the building.

The Danger of Flip Flops
As it's easy to wear, casual, flexible and with various designs that suit all ages, this is the only kind of dressing that hasn't change much since the yesteryears.
But all this may change when wearing slippers is linked to health concerns. Ever heard of contracting skin cancer when wearing such flip flops? No? How does it happen?
Most people would be wearing leather shoes (men) and high heeled shoes (ladies) or properly covered shoes for almost a year. Once these people go for their holidays, they would expose their feet out of a sudden to high temperature sunlight by wearing the easy to wear flip flops or sandals.
Due to this, the skin at your feet which is quite sensitive at that point of time may not be able to protect the feet. Normal kind of skin cancer at the feet is known as "acral melanoma". Such skin cancer may occur at the sole of the foot, between the toes or under the toenails. To protect, it's encourage to apply factor 15 sunscreen.
And if flip flops were not produced with clean plastic materials, it could affect your feet badly as highlighted by a USA consumer (be forewarned of unsightly pictures).
Must walk a lot more under sunshades and away from the sunglight. Will go out during night time ...... (ending up like a dracula).

Malaysia's Space Science University
This proposed university will be located in Kota Tinggi, Johore and maybe our two Malaysian astronauts or spaceflight participants (as defined by NASA still, wonder why?) will be there to cut the red ribbon during the opening ceremony of the proposed university.
Faculties that could be found in the proposed univeristy:-
* Space Engineering and Aeronautics
* Mechanical Engineering
* Bioengineering encompassing Biomolecular Engineering and Medicine
* Chemical and Biochemical Engineering
* Computer, Robotic and Software Engineering
* Electrical Engineering and Electronics
* Geological, Atmospheric and Planetary Engineering
* Mathematical Engineering, Physics and Astronomy
Possible laboratories for research purposes:-
* Fusion Reactor or Thermonuclear Reactor
* Linear Collider
* Large Binocular Telescope-Neural Network Telescope
* High Performance Computing
* Supersonic Wind Tunnel
* Three Dimensional Simulation
Personally, we are aiming something too high for a nation that is still considered as a developing nation status. Not that we can't dream of having for which I would envisage it fully but not at this point of time.
Definition of a developed nation:-
A country with a relatively high standard of living, achieved primarily through social, economic, and technological infrastructure. The nations of Europe, the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand are referred to as developed, or industrialized, nations.
Definition of a developing nation:-
A country with a low standard of living, generally indicated by severe poverty, low income and education levels, high birth rate, and poorly developed social, economic, and technological infrastructure. This term has become favored over "Third World," which gained popularity in the mid-20th century. Many countries of Africa, Asia (except Japan), Latin America, and Oceania (except Australia and New Zealand) are referred to as developing nations.
To spend RM6.1 billion (US$1.84 billion) on just one university in an industry where Malaysia is not even at an infant level is wasteful and not viable. I am sure that all the proposed university's technologies and professors would be externally sourced.
Countries which have huge space exploration programmes like China, India, Japan and Russia do not have such space science university. In comparison, their annual investments in space programmes are as follows:-
* India - US$450 million
* Russia - US$500 million
* China - US$2 billion
* European countries - US$4.5 billion
* USA - US$16.2 billion
The proposed Malaysian university was to emulate the world's only two space science universities, namely Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida, United States and International Space University in Strasbourg, France.
By the way, Malaysia has a similar private university by the name of Malaysia University of Science and Technology ("MUST") which has been established since Dec 2000. Why not combined the efforts cohesively which will generate better economies of scale.
Really hope that this proposed Space Science University of Malaysia won't go down the same road as what MUST has gone through where MUST received financial assistance from the government when the plans couldn't 'take-off' as anticipated. I really wonder how well is MUST doing nowadays after reading MUST a flop of "smart partnership" with 10 students after 5 years.

BBQ Rules
We are about to enter the BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity. When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion:-
Routine...
(1) The woman buys the food.
(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.
(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces,and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.
(4) The woman remains outside the compulsory three meter exclusion zone where the exuberance of testosterone and other manly bonding activities can take place without the interference of the woman.
Here comes the important part:-
(5) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.
More routine....
(6) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
(7) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is looking great. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while HE FLIPS THE MEAT.
Important again:-
(8) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS THEM TO THE WOMAN
More routine...
(9) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.
(10) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.
And most important of all:-
(11) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANK HIM for his cooking efforts.
(12) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed "her night off." Upon seeing her annoyed reaction he concludes that there's just no pleasing some women.

Kung Fu Panda with 26 Kids
By 8.50am I entered IKEA's basement car park and we brought all of them to IKEA's restaurant for the cheap cheap breakfast.
It was friend mee with the spicy sambal on their menu. They enjoyed it and was estatic when they found out that they could refill their drinks without limit.
This was taken while they were waiting for their food.
IKEA has this unique tray that could hold at least a few persons' servings at one go. Saves time and to ensure the queue moves on quickly. We occupied one corner of the restaurant.
Then off to Cineleisure for our show at 10.45am, the morning matinee. Never regretted bringing them for this Kung Fu Panda movie as adults all over the cinema hall laughed louder than the kids.
If you have not watch this animated movie, you have wasted something in your life. It's really hilarious. If you have been suffering at work for past weeks, this is your antidote.
Need to get them to line up while walking back to IKEA from Cineleisure. Not taking any chances if one was to get lost on the way back to the car park.
Our entourage caught many attention indeed with their striking green colour t-shirts.
Bought them the RM1.00 ice-cream at IKEA.
Who cares whether the floor is clean or not as long as they have the ice-cream.
They received a pack of goodies too.
The kids standing in different groups according to the different cars that they came with.
A few of us stayed back for lunch and we saw this Mama Nyonya restaurant. Always a crowd pulling kind of food for Malaysians.
Took the local delicacy of Nasi Lemak that comes with spicy chilli as well. I like spicy food. Never going to have enough of it.
This is the yam cake that came with their special sweet sauce and chilli again (optional of course but for me was compulsory).
