Feel Good, Feel Bad Is On

The main actress, Niki Ng, a teenage girl thinking that her parents were to strict on her and went on telling small white lies. It came to a day where she followed her best friends becoming a guest relation officer at a karaoke lounge.

One thing led to another which went beyond her comprehension of the situation.

She definitely felt good about what's going on with her friends but will she feel bad later on.

This drama will start with a contemporary dance with slick moves.
Tried capturing different dancing moves that came with different lighting colours.
The guy who is handling the lightings is Eugene Poh, who has just finished his PMR exams (a government examination for secondary school students) lately.
Personally, was satisfied with the lightings.

The dancing scene was followed by a classroom scene where the same notorious bunch was not paying attention in their class.

At the end of this drama, me and Lud (co-producer) have decided to change the script last minute and killed off someone's character and made it a crying scene owing to that. Acting the last scene which will be a sad moment with "First Love by Utada Hikaru" playing at the background will certainly make everyone cry. Yesssssssss!!! FYI, I was touched as well, no tears but felt the sad feelings being acted out. Bravo! Bravo!

Christmas Trees in Shopping Centres

First World Hotel, the world's biggest hotel, had put up a Christmas tree for people to hang their wishes (for people who have bought some stuff above RM50, which I did).

This tall Christmas tree was found at Berjaya Times Square.

The Curve did a magnificent job too in conjunction with the festive season.

Pavilion, being the latest shopping centre, was not left behind with their white christmas decor.

One Utama did an astounding decor. Find it really different from the usual ones.

Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) put up a gigantic Christmas tree right in the centre of the shopping centre.

Mid Valley's decor could be judged the best with the fairy tales' theme.

The Gurney Plaza in Penang tried to liven up the atmosphere by decorating with leafless wooden trees. Ran out of budget?

My own words "Where on earth did Queensbay Mall in Penang hire the interior decorator(s) from?"

Where did he/she learn that a Christmas tree is hung that way?? What was he/she trying to prove there? This is not creativity.

Video Shoot at Hotel Premise

Our video shoot ventures have now taken us into a hotel premise, i.e. Hotel Maya at Jalan Ampang, located just right across the towering Petronas Twin Towers. We were there on Sunday night.
We had to write officially to them and was required to meet seven conditions prior to being allowed to do a video shoot.

One of the major ones being not allowed to show this video other than in the church premise on 25 Dec 2007 and cannot use it for commercial purpose. So, if you are interested to see what we have done, you have to visit my church on 25 Dec to view it.

We were given the group registration reception area for our video shoot.

Another condition was - video shooting to be done between 10.30pm and 3.00am. Ok, shouldn't be a problem. We were there by 11.15pm and finished the shooting by 2.00am. The bad news for this team that was there - we missed the two giant English Premier League matches on that same night. All we get was sms messages informing us of the results. There were 3 Liverpool fans, 1 Chelsea fan, 1 Arsenal fan and me being a Man Utd fan. You should have seen the 3 Liverpool fans' face when the sms messages came into our mobile phones.......hehehe

Nice bamboo trees just outside its window panes.
Saw this restaurant's table/chairs located just right beside an interior watch catchment area which is very shallow. Wondering whether any children had ran into the area????
The hotel was nicely decorated for the festive season.
As usual, they were anxious on the end results. Just can't wait to see how was their performance.
See that T-shirt which has our The Bridge logo worn by our video cameraman? Yeah, our video cameraman cum multimedia guy designed it and it was ordered by the whole drama team.

In this picture, it was a scene where the three wisemen were discussing about the direction in looking for the the newborn king.

Why were they in modern costumes? Well, I depicted this whole drama in a modern era.

With this video shoot done, we have one tiny weeny video scene left now. Phew! At last!

A Candy Maker

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son.... - John 3:16

A candy maker in Indiana wanted to make a candy that would be a witness of his faith. He incorporated several symbols for the birth, ministry, and death of Jesus Christ. He began with a stick of pure white, hard candy-white to symbolize the Solid Rock, the foundation of the Church and the firmness of God's promises.

The candy maker made the candy in the form of a "J" to represent the name of Jesus, who came to earth as our Savior. It could also be thought to represent the staff of the Good Shepherd with which He reaches down into the ditches of the world to lift out the fallen lambs who, like all sheep, have gone astray.

Thinking that the candy was somewhat plain, the candy maker stained it with red stripes. He used three small stripes to show the stripes of the scourging Jesus received, and by which we are healed. The large red stripe was for the blood shed by Christ on the cross so that we could have the promise of eternal life.

The candy became known as the candy cane-a decoration seen at Christmas time. But the meaning is still there.

During Christmas, do you reflect on the real meaning of the season? It is one season we can use like no other to bring the focus on Christ. Ask God to give you opportunities to share Christ with someone this Christmas.

The Right Match

This afternoon was the full dress rehearsal for The Right Match drama.
My co-producer was giving last minute instruction to those in charge of moving the props.
There were some last minute changes on the scenes involved - 14 of them - therefore, we need to explain further.
While my co-producer was explaining at the main hall, I was up at the balcony trying to connect the cables correctly.
My laptop couldn't trigger the LCD projector to work. Panic! Panic! They were about to begin and I couldn't connect properly. Upon checking each cable one by one literally, we found a loose connection with one of the cables. That too was the last cable. How come we didn't start with that cable first?

Third Last Video Shoot?

According to our planning, this should be our third last video shooting. My cinematography guy, Kerk, is getting very tired with all those editings lately. Sleepless nights for him while we were dreaming away and he has to rush it out for the full dress rehearsal on Saturday afternoon.

In this scene, it was supposed to be a flashback, a scenario in black & white with a filmstrip at both sides showing a long time ago situation.

William was trying to invite Esther out for a date but the response was negative each time. We took a few shots with different clothings each time as if he came to her house a number of times throughout the year.

This was done at the main actress house and the video shooting started at 10pm till 12am.
With our creativeness, even darkness cannot stop us. Just use a table lamp as our lighting.....hehe
"He should have faced the other way" said my co-producer, Lud.
After the tough work, we went for mamak at Sri Petaling. At 2am, this was the stuff where 4 of us took into our stomach. Dinner? Supper?

The Right Match will be shown this Sunday. We intend to video shoot even those live stage acting later on and maybe submit this drama for a short drama competition.

Another Drama Done

Phew!!!!! Another drama down and 3 more to go. The Ladder's team put up a tremendous performance despite 90% of the team members were new to stage acting.

Personally from my observations, this Ladder team is the most hardworking team. They practised almost twice a week since October 2007. Well, hard work paid off handsomely. They were willing to listen to advice and suggestions and the props team managed to put up excellent back drops coupled with our video shootings - made the whole drama a good performance. How long was the duration? Around 38 minutes of solid performance. I think next week's drama is around this timing as well but I guarantee good production too (I can guarantee because I'm the producer lah).

Yesterday morning, a few of us rushed down to Jalan Pudu to go to a pawn shop where we gotten the joint owner to allow us to do a video recording. This scene was to show the young man's girlfriend in pawning off her expensive jewelleries in order to obtain funds to post bail for her boyfriend. Her boyfriend was implicated in a corruption case that happened in his company where he kept quiet on it even though he knew about it.

It was fun at the pawn shop where we were advised not to record the shop's name or even those walk-in customers. The shop was opened and we could see people from all walks of life coming to the pawn shop to enquire on their rates for the stuff to be pawned. We were given another side of the counter and the joint owner attended to our drama's girlfriend role, played by Elizabeth.

Went back home after that and somehow the stomach was not feeling good at all throughout the whole morning. By 4pm, I went over to church for the The Ladder's full dress rehearsal. We managed to get all done by 7.45pm. Went for dinner and rushed off for another video shooting at one of the friend's bungalow house.

The scene at this house was a commit suicide scene where the main actress was to cry and tried to commit suicide but so happened a super hero long lost friend came to know about and rushed to her home. Part suspense, part comedy. It gets your head thinking on what to expect next.

You really got to see this drama, The Right Match, where we put quite a number of good video shootings, complimenting the live stage acting on next Sunday, 16 Dec 2007.

The Ladder

This coming Sunday, the drama entitled "The Ladder" will be acted live on stage and partly shot on videos too.

We are doing a last minute video shooting on Saturday and hopefully everything would be smooth so that we could have the edited video by 5pm later in the afternoon for the full dress rehearsal. Real tight schedule.

We will be in Jalan Pudu for a surprising video scene.

Print this ticket when you are coming for the drama. See how serious are we on this drama thingy. You need a ticket to enter and there will be ushers asking for the ticket.

Christmas Season

With Christmas coming nearer, shopping centres are deluged with shoppers. Some sales are going on around here and there. I have no time to shop for the Christmas presents too.

Besides that, even jokes are centred around Christmas themes.

Exhausting Drama Day

After those initial discussion way back in August 2007, it has bore fruits on 2 December 2007. Yes, the first of the 5 dramas has been played yesterday morning and prayers were heavy prior to the starting of it.

Beyond Control, anchored by Joshua Lim, pulled off one of the best performance we have seen for the last few years. A legal background fella, he was able to say those right words that made the drama more meaningful.

We have received feedback that the last scene was very touching that some people were filled with tears. Joshua's life took the worst turn when he accidentally hurt his son and as he couldn't take that setback, he went drinking that same night. Unfortunately, he was hit by a car after I managed to avoid him (in the first car). I was driving in the first car that avoided and scolded him after stopping at a distance. You should have seen the way we filmed how the bottle was flung up high with soft wind sound while it was turning 360 degrees on the way down.

At the end of this morning service, the crowd was really appreciative of our efforts. Some came to me saying that it was an excellent performance. There was a joke to this drama which I have told most of them, "Do you know our Senior Pastor gave me 20-25 minutes to put up a drama for each Sunday?". Guess how long was Beyond Control? A good 45 minutes. If another 8 more cast members were to join this team, we can produce a full scale movie.

So, what was my Senior Pastor's comment? hehehehhehehehehhehe..... he went overseas for an Advanced Leadership Seminar and will be back in Kuala Lumpur on 5 December. Phew! But my next question, how long are our next 4 dramas going to be?

Most of the supporting crews went for a quick lunch while a few of us went for another video shoot in between. At 1.30pm, another 2 teams took the stage for their practises. The standard was pushed quiet high by the first team and the pressure is now on the next 4 teams.

As for me, by the time I reached home it was almost 6pm. A few of us went for dinner at a Teochew Porridge near Pearl Point, Old Klang Road around 8.30pm and my migraine set in after that. It didn't go off even on Monday morning which caused me to call in sick ..... aargh, too tired/exhausted from only the first drama. One down, four to go.

Drunkard in Night Scene

Our Beyond Control team members were finally catching up with the drama fever and we did go out one night for a video shoot. Don't forget, this Beyond Control team will be acting on 2 December 2007, Sunday (please click here for direction).

Joshua Lim, after having lost control of almost every
thing in life was somehow in the doldrums, getting drunk from excessive drinking. In this scene, he was knocked down by this oncoming car, driven by a driver who was on his handphone.
Discussing some finer moves.
Ok guys, get into positions now!
This few guys were hoping that the last video shoot was alright before we can call it a night.

Preparations for the Dramas

This is the place where I'll be stationed for all the 5 dramas, up at the balcony. That's my laptop besides the desktop monitor. Have to sync with the PA system to show those video clips that we act compiled. That's one of our sound engineers concentrating on the drama this afternoon.

This is part of the PA system, the mixer, that I'm still trying to comprehend. Never mind, just leave it to those technical guys to handle it.

Christmas Drama Trailer

Yeahhhhhhh....... we have our own trailer as well for our upcoming Christmas Dramas. When you go for a movie, you will normally get to watch a trailer of an upcoming movie. The movie trailer tends to capture your attention and gives you a glimpse of what to expect.

Well, we are not that far behind (behind in terms of money of course). Nevertheless, our multimedia guy produced this excellent piece as our movie trailer. Enjoy the trailer!

Beyond Control

This drama depicts a man who thought he knew everything and that people has to rely on him for his intelligence and wide knowledge.

In office, he will not tolerate imperfection.

At home, he can't understand family members' weaknesses.

What will make him realise that his actions were tooooooooo much?

Read this para:
A friend of mine who is a jet pilot once told me that whenever a jet goes out of control and begins to spin, the only thing to do is totally take your hands off the controls and the plane will right itself. This goes against our natural inclination to control and manipulate in order to bring things back under control. It is scary to be out of control. Or is it?
(The Dangers of Overcontrol by Os Hillman)

We were trying to finish the video shooting for this drama at a friend's home.
Just when we wanted to finish fast, the battery's life ended even faster. Good thing Kerk brought along his spare battery.
