Respective Blood Group's Food

You mean you didn't know that if you belong to the 'A' blood group, there would be certain kind of food that would be suitable for your blood group/type.

There is such a place in Skudai of Johor where you can savour the right kind of organic grown food for your blood group. In the menu, each dish has the following alphabets (A, B, O, or AB) besides the name of that dish signifying which dish is suitable for you. Very interesting, right?

It's a family-owned restaurant and the husband would ask for your blood type. He may not serve you the kind food which is not according to your blood type even though you requested for it. Surprised? Now what if you lied on your blood group ....... hehe. Will the owners conduct a blood test on you?????

Healthy for your body system as little salt is used, olive oil used for cooking instead, special sauces made from organic ingredients and non-MSG.

If you are not sure, drop by at a restaurant called Eat Right Best Restaurant locaed at 101, Jln Sutera Tanjung 8/2, Tmn Sutera Utama, Skudai, Johor.

The Lobsterman

My group of friends' hunt for food brought us to The Lobsterman at SS2, Petaling Jaya.

We ordered the 2 sets of the Lobster Family Set Menu (price according to size; ours was RM233 per set) and get to pick 2 unlucky lobsters of the day.

We did try the Fresh Lobster with Fresh Fruit & Creamy Yogurt (RM28).

The baked Escargots and Mussels were part of the set menu. Good feeling once it enters your mouth.
Tarragon Butter Baked (French cooking style).

How big was the serving? There were 8 adults and it didn't really fill my stomach. Any more additional orders will cost more and I mean really more......hehe

Lobster Termidor (Italian cooking style) with white wine and baked with cheese.

Was it considered fine dining with a bill of RM700++? Not really as the restaurant's ambience/setting was not high class enough....hehe

Will we go again? Don't think so as we have lots of other places to go.

Is Your Honey the Star of the Day?

If your honey is the star of the day, you could treat your honey to a good meal at Honey Star. But the restaurant has changed its name to Star Village Restaurant recently. It's located at Overseas Union Garden (OUG), KL.

Nothing related to the Honeystar cereal meal (but I found that this Honeystar could be quite tasty if it was part of a cookie).

Ostrich Steak which I ordered for myself. Not bad, at least it's something different from the usual western food.

The Salmon Fish Steak. Fresh fish.

Unique drink - Sun Tea. Often drank this when I was in Sudan, called Karkadeh (Roselle in english). It's actually hibiscus leaves which is widely cheaply available in Sudan but over here in Malaysia, it's considered a higher class drink.

Too bulky for me to bring back those dried tea leaves .... the immigration may suspect otherwise .... drugs???

The interior decor is quite unique.

A pool table is available for customers before, during & after their meals.

The atmosphere is quite nice and cooling. This restaurant started from Taman Desa, where I stay and then they moved to OUG later on. We often go over as the food is quite good and price is reasonable.

My hunt for food never ends till some of my friends said that I "live to eat" (of course some of the comrades were guilty of that as well).

Another blogger, Swing, was there recently and had some other photos to your liking.

China Made Charcoal Roasted Chickens

With the recall of toys that were manufactured in China due to non-stringent quality control systems, one is not surprised to see other goods being produced at a low quality standards especially those charcoal roasted chickens.

One will puke after seeing how a rural factory could produced such chickens for consumption.
Early morning, chicken collectors would go around the neighbourhood.
House by house looking for dead chickens.
At a cost of Renminbi 1.00 per chicken, it's a steal.
A number of collectors are hired each day to do such collections.
The small factory was just like the state of a car workshop.
Carcasses was all over the compound.
Even a doggie could go near to sniff it.
The de-feathering process starts here.
Easy job - just pull the feathers out.Feathers were strewn around the small factory without any cause of concern for hygiene.

An unused bathtub was used to clean the chicken after de-feathering.
Staff walking in and out of the small factory oblivious to chickens lying around the floor.

Here is the end product - the Charcoal Roasted Chickens after some colourings were added onto it to make it real.
Another 'profit over hygiene' case!

Enjoying Our Dinner at Bora Asmara

Was quite tired throughout weekend. Even though nothing pressurising, late night sleep didn't help. But that's my life, kept busy going out with friends.

On Saturday night we (with friends) went over to Bora Asmara, a Balinese-style restaurant hiding somewhere in Kg. Sg. Penchala.

Where's that? That was what my friends asked when I suggested the place. Located amongst the kampung (village) area, the quietness made it exotic unlike the fast paced city area or the nearby Mont Kiara/Sri Hartamas or One Utama.
If you are coming from SS2/Motorola bridge, take the ramp going up to the Mont Kiara tunnel, right after passing One Utama on your left. Email me if you want to know the exact place.

Good thing I made booking on Tuesday as it was packed yesterday. My friends quoted that the place was quite dark and can't see clearly what was being served especially those with curry paste. The place was arranged nicely as their area was really large thus customers were spread out all over the restaurant.

There was an air-conditioned room and it was reserved for a party. The rest of the seating areas were with the usual tables/chairs settings.

We managed to get a place at the 'bisek' and we were worried that we do not have enough place to sit. It was a small hut area with cushions on the floor and large big bolster-like for you to lean back. I had nothing to lean as I was just sitting at the entrace with the 2 steps staircase behind me.

Never mind, we ate while holding our plates as there were 9 adults and 3 kids. The dishes/drinks occupied the large table already. A bit troublesome for ladies who wear dress/skirt. You literally sit on a flat floor (with cushions) cross legged. I have to kneel, sit, stand throughout my dinner as we really packed that small area given to us.

Nice place to chit-chat after your meal, it was windy that night and surprisingly, no mosquitoes even though there were many plants around the place.

Ordered their signature Otak Seafood dish that came with blazing fire on its aluminium wrapper. This received thumbs up from all of us. Their Kangkong Belacan was solid too.

The food was a bit too pricey for such local malay dishes. Due to that people may not come frequently and the other dishes were not really up to our high taste for food.

As per other bloggers' comments, the food quality doesn't match the restaurant's ambience.

The ambience was quiet, with a group of malay musicians playing the guitar, cello, accordian and a congo drum. The musicians serenaded us with a birthday song (we were there to celebrate a friend's birthday also) and 3 chinese songs. Well done!

Dolce & Gabbana Gold

Dolce & Gabbana - famous for their clothings and apparels' with strong appeals from the sophisticated, yuppies and juniors.

Cashing in on their famous brand, D&G capitalised it by opening a luxury restaurant bearing the name Dolce & Gabbana Gold in Milan, the fashion capital of Italy.
At the entrance, the reception area would have captured your heart with its unique design which blended with D&G's business.
The restaurant section with its splendour wine collection for your choosing. It offers Italian cuisine with Mediterranean tradition. Service is impeccable.
You could also relax at its bistro section for light snacks.
Coffee room, a place where you can taste your favourite beverages.
The Lounge - your favourite drinks for the night are found here.
D&G's brand management has brought their brand into other industries for e.g. telecommunicaton as it has co-branded with Motorola to produce the RAZR D&G mobile phone.
Looks like the fashion industry are diversifying real fast especially into the luxury fashion hotel segment. Armani's boutique hotel will open at the world's tallest building, Burj Dubai. Versace & Bulgari brands have their own boutique hotels too.

Pizzas in Malaysia

The Malaysian fast food industry has drawn another new competitor recently. The current pizza restaurants in Malaysia, Pizza Hut, Shakey's Pizza & Domino's Pizza (did I miss others) are currently enjoying their big piece of the cake but seeing that the cake was still big enough, a new entrant moved in real fast.

In a short period, this pizza chain has opened up 6 outlets within the Klang Valley area. It's none other than Canadian Pizza from Canada.

FYI, it's not from Canada but from down south of Malaysia, Singapore. Surprised? It started with one outlet in Singapore in 1995, having up to 25 outlets now and expanded into the Indonesian market. Haven't try it yet but I have received its pamphlet already. They have delivery service too but their delivery timing is minimum 1 hour compared to Pizza Hut's maximum of 1 hour.

Want to see how to order a pizza in 2010? Click the link as below and see. Turn up the volume. Listen closely and watch the screen and pointer carefully. You may laugh and say this is funny, but it could happen. The technology is already there. Not as far fetched as it seems. The only thing which makes it seem unreal is that the telephonist hasn't got an Asian accent. Go on, check it out - http://www.aclu.org/pizza/images/screen.swf.

Energy Drink - Cocaine

With mind and heart concentrating on $$$$$$$$$, a drink manufacturer in USA, Redux Beverages LLC, produced an energy drink called "Cocaine Energy Drink". Of course it has nothing to do with the real cocaine drug. 1,100 milligrams of caffeine, slightly more than a large Starbucks coffee. The name doesn't matter as long as it brings in money/profit to the company - that's their main criteria. Redux will be going to court to fight for its right in using the said name.

Meantime, due to pressures from US Food Drug Administration (FDA), Redux will come out with a new name/label soon. Redux tried to inform Yves Saint Laurent ("YSL") that they might be hunted down next as YSL has a fragrance called Opium. Will FDA act on YSL?

In a humorous way, Redux has placed a notice (as seen on left side) in their website to signify the demise of its energy drink.

Nasi Kandar

Below is a list that showed the price increase for food & beverage served at Restoran Nasi Kandar Di Kayu. Unbelievable and ridiculous prices!!!!! You can't protest with placards or shout at the top of your voice at the restaurant's doorstep (as this will attract the police) BUT you and your friends can boycott such restaurant.

I went to this restaurant before just because a friend told me to try their food and it was some time back during the old prices. Can't remember the exact address but it's somewhere near Sea Park area in Petaling Jaya. They have another restaurant in Penang too.

Beard Papa

Was at Mid Valley Megamall and saw this new fast food chain called Beard Papa. Their cream puff looked real nice and we saw the counter guy pumping the cream into the cream puff.
Bought 5 pieces and got 1 free. Not cheap at all at RM16.50 (RM3.46 = US$1.00). Like to eat and might as well try it out. The cream puff was soft enough and the cream in it was quite tasty. To some people it may be too fattening. To me, EAT FIRST!
Beard Papa is a franchise business that comes from USA. Click here for more franchise information.

Nasi Briyani

Nasi Briyani or Briyani Rice - rice steamed with ghee oil/some butter/spices and could be taken with meat or vegetables. But when I saw the following pictures (of Lamb Briyani Rice), my appetite for Briyani Rice dropped drastically.
