A photography contest jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, the National Art Gallery, the Heritage Department and The Star with the theme of “Malaysia @ 50: A Day in the Life of Malaysia” – a national photography contest by Malaysians, and for Malaysians, has begun.Pictures selected will be published in a souvenir book that will form the collection for a nationwide exhibition to commemorate the Merdeka Celebrations in 2007.
The contest is open to three categories of participants, with focus on seven subjects: Our Home, At Work, At Play, Our Beliefs, Our Culture, Our Heritage and Our Towns, Villages & Cities.
There is a category for school children and youth (aged 18 and below), the Open Category, and an Open Photo Essay Category, both for those aged 18 and above.
Renowned photographer Eric Peris has been appointed the Chief of the Panel of Judges for the contest. The contest has started now and the closing date for the contest is on 28 February 2007.
