Barbie's Pregnant?

The famous Barbie toy for young girls has taken a strange twist to capture the young girls' market. Has Mattel, the toy maker, made Barbie an adult now? Why did I ask that question?

It seems that Barbie has another doll version where it shows that Barbie is pregnant and the young girls could play a giving birth scene too.
Are they trying to teach the Sex Education subject in an indirect way?

*gasp* You must be joking? It even comes complete with a baby and bloodied er...situation.

If this is true I bet a lot of people will have issues with it. "It promotes that pregnancy is glamour" because the Barbie have no 'husband' in sight? I'm SURE there would be protest.

People don't get the idea that it is the value you instill in children are the ones that matters. People like to blame everyone but themselves. If their values are strong, simple things like this will not influence children's mind.

what u mentioned is correct. knowing that barbie is not married and having a boyfriend only, this pregnancy thingy will drive a wrong message to the young girls - that pregnancy is a norm.

cld lead to immoral up bringing if not careful.

TO Gloria...NO the doll does not come with a
blood" solution...the person who's blog this is...is just trying to show you a point...my little girl has the doll...and I think its great...theres nothing wrong with little girls playing dolls and wanting to have babies...
Next thing you know people will be saying that baby dolls are bad because they "premote" teen pregnancy!!!

And this doll isn't babrie!!!
Its her friend Midge who is married and already has a toddler boy!!!

Ok, let me clear some things up. I'm a Barbie enthusiast and have been all my life. This doll is Barbie's best friend, Midge. The Happy Family line came with a father, toddler, Midge and her baby and Midge's parents (the grandparents.) This line was meant to let kids have fun imagining their own family.

If parents are stupid enough to believe that this will influence their child to actually get pregnant, then THEY are the bad role model. Not a piece of plastic. It's just a toy. Parents should be role models for their children, not a doll.

Also, the doll didn't come with blood. The person who posted these pictures obviously exaggerated the whole situation.

You do know Walmart took this off the shelves and completely got rid of it. I cant believe they would make this doll for kids. That is not something to teach them. Esp with the fact she is not married and the story line for the dolls. Parents are trying to teach their kids the right thing. I would be afraid it would cause more teen pregnancy since it seems to glamorize it. They shouldn't have taken it so far as they did. Why would you let your kids play with this?!?!?!?!? I wouldn't want my kid to learn about that too early, esp when they are two y/0 and so forth. Why would mattel make this?!?!!?!?!
